Title: How do I enable directional thrust for fighters?
Post by: BritishShivans on March 01, 2013, 10:24:21 am
This is something that annoys me somewhat. I've read the wiki TBL thingy and found that confusing, but I'll ignore that for now. I'm trying to enable directional thrust, and I just remembered that I set Slide to 1.0 before and nothing happened.

Is Slide the directional thrust thingy, or I am I missing something? I'm gonna check to see if it works this time, but I'm not sure if I'm doing this right.

By "Slide" I guess you mean Slide Accel and Decel (http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Ships.tbl#.24Slide_Accel:). You need those, but you also need to set Max Velocity (http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Ships.tbl#.24Max_Velocity:) on the x and/or y axis to something else than 0.0.

Ah, I figured that. I wasn't sure if I doing it correctly - last time I did this I put in the ships.tbl, it didn't work. I'll see if it works now.

If you still run into issues, pick a look at Diaspora tables. Or Antagonist. Or any other mod that has lateral thrusting.
