I'll keep this short.
A friend just pointed me to the TAP forum which closed its doors last month.
Given that the project is now closed and out of operation I'll pull out the older materials I still have saved and release them for the modding community to have some fun with. It shouldn't cause issues with the more recent efforts the newer guys did and had agreements to and the original modders would no doubt be pleased that at least something constructive has gone out to the community from this long running labour of love.
I'll try to have a kit put together by sometime tomorrow. My own website is no longer running so I'm going to need someone to put this up for hosting. If someone or one of the site admins would shoot me a message or email so this can get set up I'd appreciate it. ([email protected])
On a separate note, is Setekh and Thunder (who changed his username) still around?

What kind of stuff exactly are you proposing to release here ?
You can put them on FSMods.net (http://www.freespacemods.net/news.php), I have the accreditation to authorize it if everything is good with the content.

Its a collection ship models in different states from the original homeworld, HW: cataclysm and homeworld 2. The HW2 models were used with one of the much earlier FS open engines to make some of the teasers. The majority of the material is all from around project start in 2001 to around 2005/early 2006.

As i've written to you in the PM, if you have anything that is not from the Relic games, then yes, i would appreciate you releasing those things, however, if not, dont bother.

I, for one, disagree as even the old, ported models can be useful. Focus can be then around actually making missions, instead of making remodels that look no different (possibly what assisted TAP's demise) while remodels can be dropped in at a later date.

Except that we don't have any kind of permission to release free to download any original Relic material, and especially if we plan to host them on FSMods.net. And those models are ridiculously easy to extract from the original games with the right tools anyway, so if someone wants to start a mod with those, they can extract them, there is no need to keep them hosted somewhere.

Relic and sierra/vivendi knew of the project and did not object or make a move to stop them. Relic no longer owns the rights at this moment in time either. After being transfered back to relic from vivendi games they were later passed up to THQ a while after the publish brought relic. Since THQ has gone basically shut down, relic is now owned by sega but the homeworld series rights are being auctioned off in a separate sale. Hopefully someone will take interest in them and at least make some attempt to partner up with sega/relic to try and make another homeworld game. But we shall have to wait and see.
I'll speak some more with pecenipicek on the matter, though I'm still of the opinion the community should have the models. This is assuming I can find the cd's with the archives on... I'll get back to "spring cleaning" tomorrow and hopefully there will be better results.
