Title: WARNING! MICROSOFT HOTMAIL ABUSE! (no joke)
Post by: TheCelestialOne on June 26, 2002, 05:17:04 am
To all Hotmail users :

Microsoft is abusing your email adress and personal information from your .Net passport.

To check it go to your hotmail account and click "options" (next to "address book"). Then go to personal profile and after that you have to scroll all the way down and uncheck the three options on the bottom of the page.

The options are :

Share my e-mail address.
Share my first and last names.
Share my other registration information.

AGAIN : THIS IS NO JOKE!

:mad2: DAMN MICROSOFT

that's why I never use free e-mail services. I got one from my
old ISP and saved the address when I went cable.

Thanks for letting us know, 2 months after the initial round of announcements isn't that bad is it?....

The funnier thing is, alternative browser users can't access and change these new options without identifying themselves as IE

Not that I notice anyway, better the spam and junk be sent to that one place than one of my real accounts. :)

This is NEW to you? Most services requiring login have something like that. Yes, it's so that if you're an idiot and don't read to uncheck the boxes they can spam you, but THAT IS HOW COMPANIES MAKE MONEY ONLINE. Selling you to corps. Think TV would be free without commercials, hmm? Or that newspapers would be so cheap without all the stupid, annoying ads? Wake up, you're acting like a newbie.
