I have a laptop, so i dont have a numberpad or anything. How do I even complete the training mission?
-
either grab a usb keyboard, a joystick or if you go into the games option's screen there are options to rebind every key in the game though this might take some trial and error before you get a combination that you are comfortable with

argh! how come my mouse x/y axis is so confused? I wish I HAD a joystick... then again, its not a mouse, it's an apple trackpad.

how good are the mouse scripts these days, also do mouse movements count when the game runs key press checks?
-
Wat.
You don't need either a mouse script nor a full keyboard to play Diaspora. Has everyone gone insane today.
Just remap whatever keys were bound to numpad keys to other keys of your keyboard. Press F2 ingame to access the settings.
Note that you should also be able to remap the mouse axises from there.

only ptoblem was banking, and My mouse is always buggy :l anyways, this game is amazing! insanely fun for someting this hard though!
-
Also the first patch fixes any issues that there should be with most laptop keyboards.
-
I don't know what key bindings the patch uses, but here's what I've used with a MacBook Pro:
9 - pitch forward
L - pitch backward
I - turn left
P - turn right
8 - bank left
0 - bank right
I think L might already be bound to something (HUD contrast I think?). You can rebind it to something like Alt-Shift-L if you want to use it in-game. You might also want to try using O for pitch backward instead of L, in case that's easier.
EDIT: It seems like a lot of people like playing Diaspora with a mouse, so you might want to try that as well.
