Hello everyone, I'm sorry I bring this question to your attention again. As the subject name says my problem is that the game gives me 49 errors on startup and the crashes after the first cutscene (during loading)

which indeed sounded like exactly my problem
therefore I have time and again tried my best to comply with the instalation procedure in this post

but since it lacked a direction about where to put this folder I placed first one in the root directory C:\Games\FreeSpace 2
and then inside BP - both without any results
while I know it might not be your area if the VP files are installed incorrectly. I have downloaded every zip file on that thread, unpacked them all in Freespace 2\mediavps_3612
I have also copied the VP files from BP into this folder hoping that it would sort it (along with a complete copy of this folder in the blueplanet directory
I am sure I am doing something horribly wrong but I have exhausted my inovativeness and must ask for help.
what am I doing wrong?
addition - after doing a restart the campaign actually worked (despite the remaining 49 errors on startup)
I started playing and gosh did I enjoy it - this is an awesome creation!
anyways, didn't take long until I hit a problem again
in the mission when you encounter the sanctuary I was unsable to see her - which proved to be a texture bug/lack

While the first part of my post is probably redundant if you can tell me what I did wrong I'd be extremely grateful, this is the first mod I've played since I played retail FS2 a decade ago, and in further... mod playtroughs that experience may prove valuable

Well, you're not supposed to put the BP VPs into the medavps_3612 folder, they're supposed to be in their own folder. If you used the BP complete installer, it should have put them in the right place.
Anyway, to help us help you fix this issue, please post or attach a fs2_open.log. See my .signature for a link to the instructions, they can also be found stickied at the top of the support forum.

I must say that the fred2_open_3_6_17_DEBUG_SSE2_BP crashed on startup while fred2_open_3_6_17_SSE2_BP runs stable - despite errors on startup and sanctuary not visible
sorry for the late reply after your initial swift one. I hope this helps, I wish I could know wether the information herein is actually the one you need; but truth be said I have no idea what I'm doing, but as with everything - I guess time gives experience

The problem occurs because you don't have the MediaVPs installed. You've got duplicate BP files where the MVPs should be. Delete your whole mediavps_3612 folder, then reinstall from the thread here. http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=70736.0

Okay, excuse my confusion - I read somewhere that BP worked solely with 3.6.12 whereas as far as I can understand there is only a full installer for 3.6.18 - in other words 3.6.18 is the mediavp that is to be used?

You're thinking of SCP version numbers. MediaVPs version numbers are (confusingly) not quite the same. Just use the 3.6.12 MediaVPs I linked you right there; they are the newest and they are what you need for BP.

Also, the build you're using has some serious bugs that have since been fixed. Use the build in the Blue Planet build repository (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=83318.0).

And please run in 32-bit color mode. If you are using wxLauncher, this setting is found in the Basic Settings tab.
