I'm know many are going to disagree with me on this, but why would the destruction of earth during the great war mean the end for the GTA and PVN? Both species still had most of their fleet assets available, would it really be that difficult to organize another attack?
Plus the GTI had the hades on the way, so what am i missing here? Why would a shivan victory be so imminent?
-
The failed attack on the lucy means the Shivans will be much more careful about defending it in subspace. And if you can't kill the Lucy in subspace, you have already lost, given that it was invulnerable for all intents and purposes in real space for the GTA and PVN tech.
Hades was still months away. It wasn't even complete when it was deployed during STR. Besides, a good part of the Hades tech was wreckage and reverse-engineered wreckage from the Lucifer (that the GTI gathered from the DS corridor in the STR continuity), which they obviously don't have if the Lucy lived.
-
Moral would have been shot pretty badly as well, considering that Sol was at minimum, a good 50% of the GTA population and production capabilities.
So losing so much at once would hamper any ability to resist fairly quickly. Even if it is just in regards to repairs and strike craft replacements.

...(that the GTI gathered from the DS corridor in the STR continuity)...
what is this DS corridor actually? DS as Delta-Serpentis? Is this ever mentioned in the game?
-
I don't think so, there's no way the GTI could have access to the DS subspace corridor as the jump node was sealed off after the lucy exploded.
I thought the GTI gathered information on the lucy by scanning it during combat
-
there might still be accessible wreckage in subspace
-
I don't remember where it's said, but I remember being said somewhere in the STR continuity (not necessarily in STR itself mind you, might be the whole Phoenix metagame) that the GTI managed to salvage some Lucy wreckage from the Delta-Serpentis subspace corridor.

well I suppose we'll never really know until the BP team releases a detailed Sanctuary timeline.
-
They don't really have any reason to. BP tend to not reveal more than they need to, because 1) parts of the story that haven't been thought into depth yet require time and effort to set up right, 2) it kinda closes this part of the story, preventing to change it much if they ever need to, 3) restraints the imagination of potential modders who would like to make a campaign about it.
Long story short, you won't see a canon BP Sanctuary timeline unless we actually need it.
