Still haven't decided what it is ( ), but I'm thinking either some kind of transport/dropship or maybe a new medical ship (larger then the existing one).
Yes, the curved surfaces don't look very good at the mo. I'll fix it later. :)
-
What is it? A Spoon class ship?
Anyway, I think it would be perfect as a med ship.
-
Or - with texturing - a science ship, I take the inspiration from the Event Horizon - the front of the ship could break off and be used as a lifeboat if it had to (although without the SC this couldn't be done in the game)... Nice model though!
-
Do it like the NTF Boadica installation, have it blow up in pieces then the front jump out, or something like that....looks vasudan to me, just cut a little bit at the front out like on the Vas cap-ships, and it'll look really vasudan.
Good job, keep up the good work!
Cor
ITA/VE War TC...not dead...just on hold...WE NEED MORE HELP!!!:( :( :( :sigh: :sigh: :sigh: , but it'll be wicked when it's done! ;7

New Boanerges!!!:headz:

Is it me, or does it scream 'Imperial Strike Cruiser' at you? (Star Wars)

No..just have 2 seperate, docked, ships. One can pull / push the other.
-
Just dock them to each other in FRED. The docker is the 'engine' bit and the dockee is the 'bridge/escape pod/other thing' bit. :)
-
err... so what was 'decided' here exactly?
:D

Vasudan Science Ship. By the way, I want this model too, Ryx. I really like it. :D

I'm running with the Vasudan idea. I have smoothed it out a bit, added the ridge at the back. :)
I'm thinking about either modeling some kinda of attachment to go underneath that's either part of the model or as a module that the ship docks with. Though that would probably make it more of a freighter. :doubt:

Not entirely happy with the 'pod'. doesn't lok Vas, enough.

Now it looks a bit like a small carrier... :D

I have a couple of suggestions that I think would improve the overall 'look' of this design.
1: Vasudan ships tend to be pretty streamlined, it would be a simple matter to slim down the 'nose' of the ship just by giving the upper surface of the ship a steeper slant, giving it a sleeker look instead of the blunt prow it has now.
2: The pod is cool, I recommend widening it out a bit and forking it foward, almost like the front end of a Vasudan destroyer, so that the prongs come up alongside the forward part of the main hull a bit. I also recommend making the connection with the main hull flow into the main structure more smoothly instead of looking like something welded on afterwards.
This is pretty minor stuff though. The overal configuration is really slick, what are you going to have it attach to?
-
A bone. Congratulations.

I'll try it out.
At the moment the flat looking rear bit is where an engine texture would be applied. At the moment I have not planned for it to be docked with anything (as in it being a smaller part of a bigger ship).

Looking great! Much better than the original model, can you add some detail to the rear? It's... well - flat :)
-
Thunder said it all :)
-
ok, ok I'll add some detail. :p :D
-
All the rear really needs is either an extruded (slightly) center or to have the whole thing inset. Don't go overboard, because anything you put there should be covered up with thruster glows.
-
Add the stuff (busy) and mail it to me if it isn't taken yet.
BTW, looks like a trekkie ship. :)

Sold! to the Borg.
Anyone else who wants to use it should bug him :p
-
Remove the details. I preferred the bone.
-
That looks really good! Looks like a mix of Terran/Vasudan techs.
-
thx! :)
-
Erm, make the engine part flat again. Due to a rendering bug, the engine glows would pierce the hull (trust me, it looks bad), so you'd have to stick to the rear being flat until this bug is fixed.
Edit: to see the engine rendering bug, you need an external look on a Myrmidon, and with a bit of rotating, you can see how the engine glow is partially obscured by the hull, but then re-appears once it's cleared the side of the Myrmidon.
Btw, in an unrelated note to the source code people, the sun glow drawing code seems to be good (either the whole glow is drawn, or none of it, if it's obscured).
-
mabey bring the indents out-slightly. and wouldn't the vasudans have more rounded engine parts? just a thought :)
-
first version looks boanergesish, latter ones remind the hippocrates. Anyway, still cool, and still would like to see it textured.
-
Not sure if any texturing I do to it will be on the final in-game model. That's ToT's decision.
I'll give it a go, though. Need the practice. :)

Beta texes. Not looking the way I want yet.
Anyone know a good method for creating windows in PS?
-
i stink a psp. mabey i should read that long and ugly thing called a "manual"
textures look cool, but why not use the in-game vasudan textures. they're pretty cool :)
