Title: Hands up everyone who uses Lithunwrap
Post by: aldo_14 on June 29, 2001, 06:13:00 am
How do you make a good texture?

All I've come up with is a dodgy (Ms Paint) pixellated piece of **** - especially as the side maps get squashed   (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/frown.gif)

Could someone post up images of any nice texture maps they've done using this proggy(or UVWrapper), or at least give me some tips?

Not veyr good, is it?    (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/frown.gif)

My tip is to use PSP7 for the 2d art side of things and Truespace 4 for the texturing

This is a good tutorial

Dont beat yourself up its good for a first attempt  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Can't afford PSP at the mo (surviving on student loan  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif) )... I have a copy of Serif Photoshop 5 off of a cover disk (although I miss my old copy of Corel PhotoPaint 5 - that was good  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) ).

The thing is, when I look at the  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/v.gif) models, there is all this fantastic shading at the pixel level - that just scares me.The one good thing is that I have a special tiled map to ovelay it with that adds some depth / shading effect.

You don't need to afford PSP. The demo has a 60 day trial period, and when it expires a little registry edit gives you another 60 days.
