ive been having touble getting the Blue Planet mods working, idk if im installing the file in the correct place or if im missing some critical files but whenever i try to run the mod using the FS2 Open Launcher 5.5g my computer loads the splash screen then the screen goes black no cut scene or pilot select menu, just black screen and my mouse pointer
if i hit ESC at the black screen i noticed a log that exits just after i get back to desktop,so used Crtl-Alt-Del to start the task manager and this is what comes up on said window:
bp-shp.tbm(line 222):
Error: Required token = [#End], [$Subsystem:], [$Name], or [$Template], found
[$Glowpoint overrides: ( "red_glow_10:1,2" )].

i tried searching for answers to this problem but i have not found any, neither on this site nor from other sources, if this problem has already been addressed and i have not seen it, please point me in the right direction and i apologize for readdressing said problem
-
Please provide a debug.log. There are instructions on the support board on where to find it.
-
The reason the install instructions require you to select the BP build that comes with Blue Planet is that 3.6.18 does not have the feature set required to run Blue Planet. You cannot run BP on 3.6.18. You must use the build that comes with Blue Planet, or install the compatibility package and use a recent nightly build.
We're always happy to help with tech stuff so if you have any further problems just ask.

@General Battuta
i reread the instrutions a gained a better understanding of what it was trying to convey
what is confusing me now is the
"The launcher must be in the same directory as the binary you are tying to use."
i searched it on the forums and started reading one but im still confused as to what it means..
i had the installer put both AoA and WiH in a separate Blue Planet folder in my FS2 Directory
would this have anything to do with this?
i apologize for the trouble and appreciate the help
EDIT: i tried editing the launcher6 file but it came up with the same error
-
You shouldn't need to edit launcher6. Please run a debug build, then post your fs2_open.log file (located in FreeSpace2/data).
Furthermore, your install structure should look like this
FreeSpace2/blueplanet
FreeSpace2/blueplanet2
It will NOT work if you attempt to use
FreeSpace2/Blue Planet/blueplanet
or anything like that.
-
wow now i feel like an idiot i thought every mod had to be in it own folder separated from the rest of the directory
i cut and pasted all the BP file into the main directory and it works
Thank you, I really apprecate your help
-
Uh, whoa, don't do that. All the Blue Planet 1 files should be located in FreeSpace2/blueplanet. All the Blue Planet 2 files should be located in FreeSpace2/blueplanet2.
-
thats what i did lol i just took the files as they were installed originally into the separate file and took them as they were and placed them the main directory, i didnt take any additional files out of the blueplanet or blueplanet2 files
-
course now my problem is that i cant load the first mission, i can get through the intro the main screens and the first campaign cut scene, then it loads what im guessing is the 1st mission and cuts to black screen when its done loading
-
Debug log from trying to load the mission, please!
-
Please provide a debug.log. There are instructions on the support board on where to find it.
I've also got a link to the relevant post in my signature.
edit: ninja'd by the General :)

You do not appear to have a complete install of the mediavps. Please read the install instructions carefully and make sure you follow them (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=70736.0).
-
the mediavp files were also in a separate folder they worked for when i played the actual game itself, i moved their folder up into the directory and can load up the mod's missions without getting errors now
