Title: Freespace Music in Arrested Development Season 4
Post by: fenris447 on May 31, 2013, 01:12:22 am
Yup, you heard that right. Netflix users like me have recently been treated to a fourth season of the cult favorite show, and I was quite surprised to hear a tidbit from my favorite PC game hidden in one of the new episodes.

First, listen to this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGEDOryBsqg from about 0:05 to 0:20. It's briefing music from FS2.

Then queue up episode 11 of the new season and go to 7:43, listening through to 7:55.

Mildly interesting at worst, and really crazy at best. Did anyone else notice this??

No matter how this parody sucks. 0:08-0:16 speaks for itself. As I see.. Cinema2 is awesome source of inspiration :P

have we considered the possibility that they're both just using the same piece of ecclesiastical music as a basis

because that sounds a lot more plausible to me

I believe that the original source of the Latin/Hebrew chanting in that track is the Agnus Dei liturgy. This subject has come up before - it's an often-used "soundbite" of choir song music.

It doesn't help that 'agnus dei' is not only incredibly common Christian boilerplate, but also the name of the choral arrangement of Adagio for Strings, so actually finding that sample is beyond my means.

Yeah, this isn't from FreeSpace, it's just drawn from a common source.

On a slightly related note, there was Mass Effect music on Alaska State Troopers earlier. I was thrown for a second, and then I laughed.
