Myself, Aesaar, Caiaphas, Ironbeer, and Phantom Hoover have all been playing this and talking on mumble while playing, it's pretty damned fun. We've been using Forged Alliance Forever, which helps.
I and as well as the other vagrants want to see if any of you PEOPLE have this game and wish to play as well. We do not discriminate, unless you're Dragon probably (or maybe that's just me)
I also really want people to help me in my crusade to nuke Aesaar at any chance. I have successfully nuked him several times but it's simply not enough, he's a menace to us all and he even once recruited Caiaphas to his cause a couple of times, which is simply unacceptable. (he also got nuked) He'll be under the ruse of "being on your team you teamkilling ****" but do not listen to him, he's clearly undermining your authority.
-
You've left me out, you teamkilling ****. :P

You played with us like once because otherwise you're too busy stuffing your face with Hotpockets or something
-
Sorry, Hades, I just find Vikings a lot more interesting than yet more of your teamkilling ****ery. I'll only join a game that you're in if Game Enders are disabled. :P
-
I would play, but I suck against anything more than an Easy AI :( :D

Aesaar hasn't even seen you play once so that tells me that you haven't actually played with us at all, aka you're a fat coward

So does Aesaar

I only have FA; do you use some LAN haxs or would I be stuck as lame-aphim?

Not sure, FAF might allow every race to be available, idk.
-
I too play this game, although I find I don't really like the FAF community that much. I'm also kinda confused since I never really got into Supcom's multiplayer scene until GPG was more or less dead, and I was ****ing
mad awesome back then and loved playing against multiple AIx players. Oh, and on a few occasions, I actually won. So I don't really know what this FAF thing is.
But anyway, I usually play through Steam, since I have three friends on there who occasionally play a game or two with me. My steam handle is crazedbirdthing, so if you're in the HLP group you should be able to find me there. I'd advise if you want me to join a game through Steam, try and see when I'm online - I live in Australia, so for the most part the time for me will be the reverse of your time, going off my American friends.

Also, matchmaking is still online, it's just that there's only a few games every now and then.
-
Hi. I have FA, and would like to play it more often. It would, off-course, depend on the times you are on. I am a GMT+1 kinda guy.
-
Upon playing some more games against the AI, I have come to a conclusion: S̡̺̗͓͇̤͕̻͌̑ͮ͋̊ͣ́͐͜T̶̠͖̺ͩ̌̃͒͆͌͛͗͘Ȩ̻̦̠̖̝̙ͣ̎́E͕͊́̋̅͐̌̓N̷͚̜̘̞̟̳̥͆̃̾̚ͅİ͇̠̳̒̽͒͌ͫ̎̕͠S̅ͪ̽ͩ̓҉̸͚̻̹͝ ̢̘̣͕̘̹̹̗̜ͭͨ̂́M̖͍͙̤̺̝̘ͬ̍̔̋̇ͦ̈́͘U̴̡͊́͏̳̲̻͖̼S̄ͮͩ̏̋̾͐̇ͧ́҉̯͎͍̖ͅT̙͉͆̅ͯ ͖͔͙̠̹͖͙͎̀̚Ḇ̳̀͒ͣ́U̒̉̑͊̂̐̋̚͏̪̟̙̫R̵̛̘̦̺̯̼ͪ̄ͥͅN̷͗̓͑ͯ͆̎̀̐͏͕͜
And I WILL return with his spine as proof of my victory! :beamz:

Man, I haven't played online in ages. Might be a good time to get back into it, once I get back online.
*adds "look up supcom FAF" to the TODO list*

The "nuke Aesaar" stakes have now been raised to a full-on strategic standoff. I am looking to recruit people to join the fight against the Canadian menace.
-
This could be interesting. I've got the lobby thingy installed, but I haven't had the chance to play any game yet, so I might be bit rusty regarding human-to-human combat.
-
America is staying neutral in this U.K./Canada nuclear standoff.

Mostly. Our own glorious Grand General Battuta has taken it upon himself to enforce strategic arms limitations. And we should assist him with that.
-
No he hasn't, he's just nuked me as part of peacekeeping efforts.
-
I'm normally available 3.20pm-9.00pm GMT.
EDIT: If anyone is interested I'm hosting a 2v2 on faf now called HLP password is freespace.

for the record, i just got supcom and FA off the 7.59€ steam sale so i can prolly join you whenever

Found some info on the slowdown issue. tl;dr it seems to be linked to Expansion Bases more than anything else, and water maps get hit by the issue REALLY hard. We should really run with expansion base limits.
-
Huh. That's....interesting, and I thought the AI's expansion bases might have something to do with the slowdown.
-
Detailed tl;dr for those who can't/won't read the thread I linked.
It seems expansion bases are the problem above and beyond any unit caps or any other factors. Essentially, for each expansion base, the AI creates a secondary AI called a "Build Manager". Build Managers are not removed from memory until every single engineer and factory associated with the expansion is stamped out, so if a damaged expansion is rebuilt, an additional Build Manager will be created on top of the previous one. Because Build Managers independently evaluate battlefield intel and adjust their production behavior accordingly, it shouldn't be hard to see why SupCom begins to rapidly slow past a certain point.
Solutions? First off, the makers of Sorian AI have taken great steps to quell a lot of memory waste associated with the traditional GPG AIs, but their optimizations still have limits and cannot address the Build Manager issues. Using Core Maximizer can potentially help, but I don't have solid intel regarding its effectiveness on Win7. Avoiding water-heavy maps seems to make the splintering Build Managers less wasteful. And the final, and probably most effective, solution is to clamp the number of expansion bases the AI can build. I hypothesize that limiting water expansions would have more effect than clamping land expansions.

I've got supcom and FA, never heard of FAF though....
Cyrano amphibi-stroyers ftw.
