Ever thought what it would be like to climb on top of a construction crane? Well, you don't actually need to imagine the process any longer, here's a first person view of that (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Fs0hkdJzk8). And a bit more than that, too!
Could be relaxing, actually. That is to say, when your hand is strong enough so that you don't need to think about it.
-
I don't think I've ever seen "pants-****tingly terrifying" spelled as "relaxing" before. :p
-
I wouldn't consider that gut-wrenching yet, the guy is a pro who has trained for that for a long time.
Now sitting on top of the aircraft warning light boxes of the spire of the tallest building of the world (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gMztVVIn_U) sort of is. Second good one on that category is just plain old climbing (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5NoSZ0J5GY).
Now I need to figure out who was that Norwegian dude who did handstand next to the fjord's cliffs... handstands on a chair, that is to say.
-
Yeah, I'd never do that
I'm good at climbing, but I always do it in a fashion that I won't fall to my doom if I make a mistake
-
LEAP OF FAITH! I spy a conventiently located pile of hay...
nah. This dude has serious guts for this

Man, I love climbing. I spent a significant fraction of my childhood up in trees or hanging out on the roof with my cat. I love climbing.
But, ****. THAT. ****.
Giving me some serious vertigo just watching the video!

HARD AS NAILS.
-
I could not climb something like that without base/bungee jumping off of it afterwards. I just could not.

I kind of want to read the thread's title as "but now I want to be spiderman"

Now imagine if you took out the ground and you just "fell" forever if you screwed up... :drevil:

Yeah. There were two cases of WTF on that video, first when he changes from ladders to pipe with small steps on it (grabbing the bolts while doing the transition) and on top when he worked on the safety pin with both hands, standing freely on that small level surface below his feet. Technically they did not climb that much, about 40 metres, but taking into account the rest, sheesh! I do contribute part of the effect to the short focal length lens that exaggerates all distances and to the location of the camera that is on top of a helmet that adds another layer of wobbliness. But I concur, I got vertigo on those two occasions too, and I've been known to fly airplanes and climb as well.
Speaking of hairy situations above, after seeing this Blue Angels test flight, I'm sort of glad they never accepted me in to the cockpit of an F/A-18... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ca385XKYEnc)

You mean that you don't? :D

Peter Parker's life is an endless downard spiral of misery, kinda puts me off.

This is AMAZING wow. I love the quote in the vid too. At first when I was watching the video I was like "meh, I've done stuff like this lots of times" but then the video gets close to the end and I'm just "WOW :O". Many thanks for this, I love it.

Reminds me of that scene in Casino Royale, where that parkour guy jumped from one crane to another without safety gear.
I'm just sitting here with small adrenaline rushes watching these videos :/
-
That video made me physically uncomfortable.
I don't have a fear of heights - I have a fear of falling from them (or rather, suddenly stopping at the bottom of such a fall).
GAH.

Speaking of intense situations, here's one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5PNhNEW-os).
It is the sound and voice that gets me every time while the other guys are trying to help "Go south-east now!" and that "Still being blind" [regrettingly].
