Title: FS Subspace entrance effect in 3ds Max
Post by: starbug on June 22, 2013, 10:58:45 am
I am currently working on a animation in 3ds max with a Orion on patrol and 2 shivan crusiers jump in and attack, i have all the models in place, but i am unsure how to get the subspace entrance/exit effect done. I know how to make it appear, disappear and make it grow larger etc, but i dont know how to animate the textures to get the rippling effect, does anyone here know how to do it, Oh yeah i am using 3ds max 2012.

Cheers :)

Well what i have done is extract the Warp.pof from the MediaVP and put that into 3ds max, but when i comes to the Warpmap texture i am unsure on what to do as it is an animated texture and i have never done animated textures in 3ds max.  I have looked at the video and it does help but i am still stuck as the warp model has 29 warpmap01.dds files, which ones do i use?

 Um, all of them? :P

An animated texture is a sequence of images. You should set it to be 1 image per frame for 29 frames. That should give you the complete swirly effect.
