So I have just finished watching the Transformers Prime series 3 on YouTube, since we running behind on it in the UK. I have to say i actually felt sad watching it. Also for a kids show i thought it was way better than series finales of other TV programs, IE Star Trek, Stargate etc. Most final episodes of a show are normally underwhelming and anticlimactic but Transformers Prime Deadlock is anything but, it dives right into the action straight up and makes up the bulk of the episode, with some shocking moments for those who didn't attend Comic Con as i believe a lot of the episode was spoiled by the producers at Comic Con. It also actually provides a lot of closure as well, something other big TV shows fail to do. I rarely say this but it is a really epic episode for 20Min's.
I have to say in terms of story and character development Transformers Prime has been one of the best TF shows. G1 is and always will be the best, but i think Prime in terms of story telling and making emotional responses its better and sits next to the Beast Wars episode Code of Hero. That without a doubt is one of the best ever episodes of transformers. 30 years old and the ending of that episode can pretty much bring me to tears! Deadlock almost did the same.
I am very sad that Prime is almost over, as we have only the Predacon Rising TV movie to go and maybe a Theatrical Feature film to go, as they were planning one but i am unsure if that became Predacon Rising. On the flip side maybe its better to end it now and finish on a high rather than it going on and getting stale. So i will miss it and i was just starting to like Predaking as well.
But i have to say i am really angry with Hasbro, as for some reason and they have actually told me this in several emails, when enquiring about the DVD release's in the UK. Now pretty much worldwide TF Prime is getting released in Boxsets loaded with extras and Blu-ray releases. The UK is not getting this, according to Hasbro the UK will only get series 1 released on separate DVDs, there will be no Boxsets, no release of series 2, 3 and they are still undecided if the Predacon Rising film will get a DVD release in the UK. The reason for this and these are Hasbros exact words, "We feel that there isn't a large Transformers fanbase in the UK to warrant the release of the complete prime series on DVD or blu-ray in the UK. The same reason applies to the release of the figures, only select Tranformers Prime figures will be released in the UK."
Seriously WTF!! The UK has a huge TF fanbase, some of the best TF writers have come from the UK, and we have had some of the best comic runs. Were does Hasbro get the idea that TF isn't liked in the UK????
Anyway rant over, What do you guys think of Transformers Prime did you like or hate it?

The UK isn't a big enough market to spend lots of money on.

Is formatting things to UK from say US such a spending of "lots of money"? That seems just ridiculous.

Shipping. He's talking about figures. DVDs. Stuff like that. It gets made in China and shipped elsewhere. It's cheaper to ship to the Port of LA and across the US than to the UK by either of the canals or the long ways.
The bottom line is you're just not a big market segment in their eyes, and they're right, so welcome to hell.

He did say they were shipping it 'pretty much worldwide', though.

It suck when we in old Blighty get shafted by various companies on things like this, thats why owning a multi-region DVD / Blu-ray player is practically mandatory. My now-pretty-much-ancient Panasonic DMP-BD35 has a hardware mod that allows Blu-ray region switching win a single button press and afaik the newer models can be softmodded for a small fee.
If its just DVD your interested in, the Panasonics have had the same IR based multi-region mod available for over a decade and it works on their Blu-ray players (for DVD playback only). Before I got my Blu-ray multi mod I had done the DVD multi mod using a old laptop with a IR serial port and software that should be no further than a decent (insert searchengine of choice here) search away.
Toshibas and Philips DVDs are even easier, the hacks can be done with the stock remote and there are Blu-ray players out there that will let you do the same.

The Prime boxsets are being released all round europe, they are the exact same as the US sets, except they are region 2. They are are just not being released in the UK which is also region 2. Think i need to get a region free DVD-rom
