It's supposed to be an open source reimplementation of Windows XP. It's not Linux based or anything. It looked kind of cool so I was wondering if you guys have ever heard of it or tried it out?

We have heard of it, I recall many members vowing to leave MS behind forever once it's out and stable.
EDIT: On searching, most of those members are Nuke :)

and etc.

Yeah, Nuke's been mentioning it for a long time now. It seems like a really cool concept, if they can pull it off. It'd be great to essentially have indefinite XP compatibility.

i played with an alpha awhile back, they didnt really accomplish much. you got an os that pretty much looks like win2k. supposidly it should support windows drivers out of the box, but i never tried to instal any. at the time it didnt have a usb stack, and you had to boot it from a cd (not a dvd). there was also a frequent issue where the gui was kinda glitchy. next version (which should be out by now) should address these issues. its still in alpha, and i always say im switching when it goes beta, and i will be sure give it another test run then, but if i have problems i may end up sticking with windows at least for win9 (already decided that im not installing win8).

You try the 8.1 preview yet? Is it any better than 8?
