You know, when I heard about Jimmy Saville, I wasn't actually surprised, but this... this is a bolt from the blue, I grew up watching this man on TV (whereas Saville always gave me the creeps).
Really not sure how to respond to this beyond a kind of mute surprise at the moment.

Most disappointing, just like Saville. :nono:
Hopefully it's wrong.

It is rather a surprise to hear he got charged. I was kinda expecting it to turn out to be just like The Hamiltons (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/3007393.stm).

I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO BELIEVE IN

All this does make you wonder if there was anyone at the BBC who wasn't sexually assaulting people!

I literally did not know who this was, nor particularly care (yeah it's awful, but lots of people do awful things) until a few minutes ago when I watched a zero-punctuation review from 2008, during which played: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmL3m2zcoOI
It was pretty creepy.

Let's put it this way, if Johnny Ball or John Craven appear on the list, I'm declaring my childhood null and void....
-
I know what you mean. Rolf Harris would almost certainly have been someone I didn't expect to be on the list though....

I think the top gear team counts. They just verbally assault people. And cars. But mostly people.

All these cases that 'occured' how many years ago?, these types of cases always make me wonder.
Why come out about it now, if it happened then and you didn't bother, why bother now? (money?). But there is more to it than that, emotional/mental stress/damage. Nothing is simple.
But still, Rolf is someone I'd least expect.

Indeed it isn't. There is a washload of reasons why these cases are almost never reported, and these reasons are often known and exploited by those who commit the acts.
Better late then never. These cases should always be picked up on, even if they happened years ago. Otherwise, you really sent the wrong message to people committing these kind of acts. And those who are affected by it.

The really creepy part is that, in the case of Saville, the attacks were reported at the time, but the Police more or less said there was no point in pursuing them because his fame would protect him.
Personally, I find that almost as disgusting as the crimes themselves.
