Title: help! *.tbl formatting

you may remember my 'mines' question from a week ago, and thank you all for your help. i figured the best way to approach this is to simply create another 'ship class' in the ships.tbl. well, after going in and copy/paste/edit stuff i needed, i went to 'Save As' and saved it as Ships.tbl in the tables directory. when i opened it in the .tbl editor, all i got was gibberish. i've tried editing these files in MS word, notepad, and wordpad. nothing seems to work, i always end up with some kind of gibberish. is there some fundamental idea that i'm missing here? what's wrong?

You're supposed to only goto file and save, since you clicked save as, you screwed up the table and now its only in word format.

Yeah - only SAVE. I did that mistake once - it took me AAAAAAAAAAges to recover everything!

If you must use Save As you have to remember to save it as a text file.

It shouldn`t be too hard to recover if you start again from a fresh ships.tbl

Trying to recover the old one will probably take you much longer.
