There are a couple of sounds I want to use as ringtones. One is the ETAK sound. And then some of the reaper sfx from mass effect as well. I was wondering if anyone can help me out with this. iPhone 4, if that helps.

The sounds are in wav format, inside the vp files in your freespace2 directory (.vp).
In order to open them up, you can use vpviewer. I think m!m made a new program too for w8 that works like a charm.
You can then extract them and import them to iTunes and my knowledge stops there. From them on I have no idea how you turn it into a ringtone but it should be easy.

I've tried to see if I can't use my music to make ringtones, wasn't successful. Maybe I should try harder.
EDIT: can you get me that link to m!m's program?

I was curious about this, so did some googling. Found a tutorial that should work as long as you have itunes and any file that it can play: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyqCC3IAv7M
And the thread I got it from: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4565805?start=0&tstart=0
Hope this works! I can't test it, I have an Android phone and all I have to do is upload the mp3 into the right folder and select it in order to get custom music ringtones to work.

You're lucky. But the video doesn't work. Using windows 8. Can't do the same thing. MIIIIICROOOOOOSSSSSSOOOOOOFFFFFT!!!!!!!

Found a vid that worked! Yay! Now on to other sounds!

There is great potential in this, I can feel it. I certainly wouldn't mind a DIVE DIVE DIVE alarm clock ringtone for instance.. :P
EDIT: On that note, I tested this out in the past with things like TF2 voice files. Getting spammed by Scout's 'need a dispenser here!' is an effective way of waking one up..
