Title: Launcher error
Post by: Dunny on September 21, 2013, 01:21:57 pm
Hello, I've been using your forum for many years and been playing fs2 for a long time too but only just signed up!

I've got an issue with the launcher.  I've just purchased a new laptop, and I've got round to playing this again when I get a "Failed EnumAdapterModes in UpdateAntialiasList" message appear when I use the launcher.  The menu with the resolutions to choose from is empty.  The game will load and play, but in a resolution that doesn't fill my laptop screen, so I can still see the windows background on the right hand side of my screen.

I've had a look, but struggling to find a solution to the problem, so, can anyone help me?

Many thanks!

That's a known issue with the old (abandoned) Launcher and Windows 8; it's something you can safely ignore.

I would however recommend switching to wxLauncher (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=67950.0), which does not have these issues.

Thanks for your quick response, I'll give that new launcher a go :)

Hi again,

I've followed the instructions but now I'm getting another error.  The launcher isn't generating a flag file for any of the executables that I have to use, neither is there a "launch" or "play freespace" button showing either.  Do you have any more suggestions?

Thanks.

I'll need to look more into this later (it's 1:30 am here), but first thought, is your FS2 folder in "C:\Program Files\" or "C:\Program Files (x86)\"? FS2 won't work if it's installed in those places. If it is there, make a folder C:\Games\ and put your FS2 folder there.

EDIT: Clarification.

Thanks!  That appears to have been the problem.  I've moved it out of there and now the launcher is generating the flag files.  Thanks for your help! :)
