Title: Vertical missile launch on fighter
Post by: Enioch on September 25, 2013, 03:11:15 am
Hello, folks,

I 'd like to ask if there is any way to have a secondary (missile) bank on a fighter fire vertically, like a VLS battery from a capital ship. Do all weapon banks need to fire along the 0,0,1 normal? I tried setting up a bank with a 0,1,0 normal, but FS insists on 'fixing' the normal.

I realize that I could always set up a missile turret and control it via capital ship scripts, but I would really prefer weapon bank functionality (loadout selection, limited ammo etc)

Any thoughts?

Makes me think of anime tanks, macross, then wings of dawn, dawns spa pic.

Spoon may have tips on the original subject.

"gun convergence" flag makes the weapons fire down normals.

Didn't one of the Exarchy fighters in DE have something like this?

So it does. Thanks Big D.

Yeah, that was the subject of much annoyance to me, since at that point, auto-convergence (for primaries) and "gun convergence" (for secondaries) were mutually exclusive on the engine-side...
It's fixed now though, you can have offset missiles working with auto-convergence/aim. :)
