Well....it's time to replace good old FS2 online I guess,...anyone have any suggestions ? From what I've seen in stores lately it seems this genere has been sleeping for a couple years :(
-
Do you mean a new online game or a new offline game?
-
Either really. I hate having all these flightsticks just sitting here.
But online is prefered.
-
There's a few big onlineonly space games...stuff like Star Wars:Galaxies, Earth and Beyond and Eve ar ein-progress...
There's a few space sims in progress - not sure if they're online - too... can only remeber Freelancer offhand, but there are a few other ones... I'll try and dig up an old thread.....
(gotcha - :) )

There's also Elite 4 (http://www.frontier.co.uk/games/elite4/index.html). There's a FAQ at the official site, but I haven't looked at it.

Checking out Eschaton now...looks pretty wicked so far...is it out or in the making still ?
-
Allegiance... dont remember the link.. by Microsoft...
-
Bridge Commander
-
heh I don't really call Bridge Commander a Space Flight Combat Sim :D
Basically anything along the lines of FreeSpace, StarLancer, XWA, etc. Especially if it's got a good MP side to it.

The multiplayer is damn fun, two teams, each a different faction. Each faction has unique ships. You start off with a base, you can go hop in a fighter (if there are any docked/built) or the turret of a capship (ditto), or take the commaders job, order ships around, build new bases in other systems, harvest resources, research new technology...
Incredibly fun, just no one knows about the damn game :/

I want a space sim with eye popping explosions, great special effects and star backgrounds, dozens of huge ships, hundreds of fighters duking it out between them, evading flak and certgain death, great plot, good textures, and great voice acting! Aaah, Freespace 2, there it is.... :D
But seriously, I want a game that is ATLEAST as immersive as FS2, with great chunky explosions, that shake you're ship and good gameplay. Oh well, the way things are going now, all we can expect anymore for the PC are MMRPGS, RTS's, FPS's, and maybe the occasional The Sims release... Too bad. :(
-
well, there is I-war (ever checked the forums main page :p ), Freelancer, which is soon to be released (for about 3-4 years now), a lot of space-rts' in the making, thats about all I can think off the head.
I-war of course isn't too online, but it's well worth the $10 they ask for it.

I know it's not new, but is Homeworld a flight sim?
-
no, it's a space rts. Damn good game though.
-
Hey Ricter, how did you hear about those games. I never even herd about them untill now.
-
New sim:
"I've Found her" (ifh.firstones.com)
"Homeplanet" (same engine like IFH: http://homeplanet.revoltgames.com/ (currently down)).

i hope this just aint nostalgia gettin the best of me cos i played mike tyson's punch out the other day and it turns out that that game was not nearly as good as i remember
