Is apparently a thing (http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/10/15/stardock-announces-galactic-civilizations-iii-releases-trailer/).
And they've confirmed that multiplayer will be in this one.
-
If it didn't have multiplayer support, they would be in fear for their lives. It was something the community very much wanted for GalCiv2.
That said, I'm more interested in hearing if they've done something to improve the AI or tech tree(s).
-
Seriously? This is awesome! I really hope Stardock gets this right.
-
Eh, the AI was enough to entertain me with GalCiv 2.
-
It served its purpose as well as any other TBS game.
But I'd like it if the 'identifies self as good' AI was marginally different from the 'identifies self as bad' AI. Or if diplomacy actually meant anything beyond gaming the system to get technology.
I guess I'd like to see the systems change from what they were ten+ years ago.

Awesome, especially the multiplayer addition.
The Immense size galaxy in GalCiv 2 was already very big. I am looking forward to what pure 64-bit engine on modern computers can pull off in terms of galaxy size.

I nearly had a baby when I saw this announced on Reddit. And I'm a man.

Unfathomable. :P
Now, I have lost my pants at many a thing here on these forums due to excitement of some sort, and this is no different. I am going to enjoy politically strong-arming the galaxy again.
-
Finally ...
I was already worrying they would never get over that Elemental debacle.
-
:bump: Can I necro this? I'm gonna necro this.
So is anyone here in the GalCiv 3 beta? I recently got back into the first game (which I still prefer to the second because I'm weird), and I've been looking up 3. They seem to have recently added some really cool stuff, for instance the Yor and any other synthetic toaster races play very differently to the meatbags - they're weak in the beginning, but if you exploit their strengths (http://forums.galciv3.com/460166) they become powerhouses by the late game.
-
I'm in the beta but haven't played recently.
-
Bought it, played it..... and I regret the purchase.
Seriously, it's GalCiv II.
Off the top of my head I can't think of a single change.
Combat is still dull as hell.
Ship design is still visual only and has NO effect on combat.
And actual module choice and it's effects are still crap.
-
That's what I hear too.
Get the second cheaper.
