Title: small idea for afterburner trails
Post by: fightermedic on October 22, 2013, 07:30:01 pm
i think afterburner trails could make good use of all the options that missile trails get
right now they look rather odd if they are set to last long and have a greater diameter, the missing fade into alpha at the end of the trail does that, makes the edge look sharper than it should
anybody interested in adding this?

I think this was implemented already 11 years ago (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=10196.0)

He's probably referring to start/end width and alpha.

yea, this is what i'm speaking of

btw: would one mantis feature requests like this? or is mantis strictly meant for bug related reports? since this isn't really a bug

I would suggest to make AB trails spread with increasing distance. Something like throwing with a dry sand:).

As far as I know, you can put features on mantis provided you've already lined up someone to work on it.  i.e. we don't want mantis to become a graveyard of ideas that no one is going to implement.

Yeah, if someone is committed to working on it already, I'm ok with it being tracked in Mantis.
