i have seen them being talked about somewhere in this place, but couldn't find it when i need it. typical
anyway, i have made a small transport model which looks pretty cool, but it's hull is parented to a "detail0" phantom object. it probably means it will crash if i try activating the turrets.
how do i glue the four turrets on without there being a phantom object forming from the group detail0? currently i select them all, then glue them to the hull in one go as a sibling. it won't let me glue them as anything else. BTW they are single part turrets :)
-
All I can say is this:
Vasudan Escape pods are never used to evacuate personell, only data and records, and second, an Admiral would never leave his ship. If it were destroyed, he would die with it!
-
:wtf:

I have to admit I thought I was knew FS modelling pretty well, but even after reading through the first post several times, I still don't understand what you mean.
Could you copy/paste the truespace hierarchy tree here?

Um.... are you gluing a light to the detail0 hull? If so, don't. Also, try gluing each turret/light combo individually (click hull, click turret, click hull, click turret, etc).... I think the group of turrets could create such an empty object.

Could you reform that into actual sentences?

does that really matter? :doubt: it was just a thought i had for location. i am in sydney if you really wanna know.

what i mean is that in modelview, i click the main hull in sub-object editor and it says it has a parent object-detail0.
i can't copy & paste the ts heirarchy, so i will do my best to copy it.
anything in brakets is a description. :D

to answer aldo, no, i'm not gluing a light to detail0. and how would i glue each one to the hull without the second turret being a sibling of the first group, and the third a sibling of the first group and second turret?
-
Don't you have turrets glued in the LOD:s?

Yes, It does matter, you have to be accurate, you know.

Yeah, right.
Where did he say that it was going to be an escape pod?

Well, what I read you as doing is gluing all the turret (model-light groups) together as sibling before gluing that group to the hull model.

mabey. if i fiddle for long enough it seems to work. strange.

For god's sake people, use Truespace's Trueview extention. It makes things much easier.
-
Doesn`t that only come with TS4 and above?
If you have TS4 though, it is great. I use it myself :)
-
where is the true view thing? the keyframe animator is pretty lame.
-
tell us where it is, and we'll use it...
-
Left click on the Truespace eXtensions button(it's next to the buttons for Quad divide, mirror and polygon reduction). A new dock will open. Click on the Trueview Heirarchy editor.
You can now drag and drop objects until the heirachy is good.
-
if you don't have it, http://truespacez.virtualave.net/tru_plugs.htm you can get some other plug-in's there but they aren't much use. oh, and BTW in case anyone is wondering, it is free :) check the readme :D
-
lol...I lost the button...but I found it again, and I already have trueview...
