Rise Of GCA, a new campaign is looking for people that wants to work on an innovative campaign design.
I'm looking mainly for FREDers, if anyone is interested reply or mail me at [email protected].
I'm actually working on concept data (nearly finished), basic mission editing and a web site.
I'm going to ask HLP hosting, but i don't know where i should ask for it...
-
oh, i forgot about the plot...
Here is some basic story...
Rise Of GCA Story (based on FSURP data)
265: Following the GTA PCT (Provisional Cooperation Treaty), most industries involved formed the Terran Corporation Pact
(TCP), wich was a resource and technology share agreement.
This allowed the big corporations to act as a single entity, lead since then by Nanosoft, wich was one of the biggest HI-TECH
industries since 20th century.
2315: TCP changed its name to GCT (Galactic Corporate Trust), wich was the productive core of GTA.
2340: Vasudan industries join GCT, leading to the most powerful private economic entity ever seen.
Thanks to the joint might, its members became defense contraptors for all military projects.
2348: GCT became GTVA's main defense contraptor, nearly every starship in known space were produced by them.
25th december 2366: after the destruction of the Colossus, GCT reorganized itself in order to lead "post war reconstruction",
and became the Galactic Corporation Alliance (GCA).
2368: After Capella, GTVA fleet rebuild suffered from slow downs, piracy increased to worrysome levels.
As stopgap measure the Private Safety Act was ensued, allowing GCA to build a light defence fleet, designed for convoy escort
and base defensive patrols.
GCA ships became the "space police" in many systems, keeping relative order.
Research on meson reactors lead to small improvements within the fleets, refitting old ships due to lack of founds.
2370: First successfull communication with Earth trough radio and laser signals.
This allowed the receiving of messages with a 5 years interval.
Most data content classified level omega.
Unconfirmed signs of extremist activity spotted in border systems, GCA starts the building of a Terran Jump Gate with SOL.
After your retirement from GTVA active duty you find work inside GCA light defence fleet.
You will start with police patrol against pirates, but there is something deeper...
Everywhere you hear the same voices: REVOLUTION!
Features:
- A new story, based on FSURP data
- New ships
- no less than 24 missions
- intelligent resource management, based on mission outcome
- a new, more "realistic" fighting style
- new weapons
-
How are you going to do that?
-
I've already started, if you are good with FRED and wants to give an hand i will send you some more plot...
-
Sorry, I'm kind of Rusty with Fredding (I can probably do it though). I more of a modelling guy.
-
Even better then...
Are you good with shields and turret modeling?
-
Doesn't segeltuch do shields? and as for turrtes, I haven't tried it yet.
-
I haven't any knowledge about modeling,
I'm currently using the Inferno shield MOD, but it needs some fixes, and it's something i cannot do...
-
I currently working on this colony ship.
check it out (www.angelfire.com/scifi/MD/colB)
I can do stuff like that and perhaps more.
-
Everytime I see a post about a new mod/campaign, I pray that no one has gotten the same idea i have. Once I get done with Casualties of War, I'm probably going to start on it.
And if some people (megadude), would ever turn on their ICQ, we might be able to have a chat about it.
-
well...
there can be a limited number of ideas around a game...
but you shouldn't fear this, if more people have similar ideas they can join and make a better work...
interested?
-
sorry, I never use that thing. Do a lot of people use it?
-
yeah, either that or one of the many instant messengers. I have msn as well as icq. And for what it's worth, i liked the rounded pod that was underslung.
-
Zarax: I notice you're from Redmond. Could this possibly be Redmond, WA USA?
I also noticed:...lead since then by Nanosoft, wich was one of the biggest HI-TECH industries since 20th century.
I am familiar with a very large software corporation from Redmond, WA with a very similar name.
I sense a disturbing pattern here... :D
-
I'm not really from redmond...
I'm italian...
If you sense something you're right, there will be some recalls to reality in the campaign...
If it goes on you will probabily replay it in order to find some niceties...
It is one of the ways that will make this campaign a bit different...
-
TO me, it sounds like CorpoFreespace 2
To me Corporations joining together exept in rare circumstances is just unrealistic (my TC (I always say that, don't I) has lots of companys that appear and play a part in the game but most of them fight over deals sometimes with combat ships! (look for an example in a 'past battle' demo of mine sometime in the furture, the 'Karmenn Incident')
But its your campaign, But Im not quite sure of what this Resource Management thing will do....
Make it good and people will play it.
Make it bad and people will claim to never have know you.
Its your call...
(I loved saying that!:D)
-
It will be much deeper than that...
The overall quality will depend by many factors i cannot control directly...
In optimal conditions it will be a pretty good and replayable one...
It will support multiple mission outcomes, but the end of the campaign it is still working in progress...
Just say that corporations are part of a deeper scheme...
Remember the french revolution... :headz: ;7

I disagree... then trend has been for big companies to get bigger -- look at the number of mergers in the last few years. AOL/Time Warner is a good example; also look at the "Baby Bells" -- there were originally seven after the breakup of Ma Bell, now there are only two or three as they've swallowed each other (or been swallowed). There's also Lockheed + Martin Marietta (M-M was itself created in a merger); Northrop/Grumman, HP + Compaq (which absorbed Digital Equipment a few years ago)... these are all US companies, but the trend exists overseas as well.
If you've never read The Space Merchants by Frederick Pohl and Cyril Kornbluth, it is definitly worth a read (although it's written in that 1950's campy sort of science fiction). My favorite parts were when they made references to "The Senator from Proctor and Gamble" and discussed how much it cost to buy a Senator.
And don't forget the Descent series -- the most powerful entity in human space was the Post-Terran Mining Corporation.
Even today, many (most?) orbital launches are being funded privately, as big corporations have more capital than many governments (and getting approval is easier). Obviously they're in it to make money, too...
I think injecting an economic spin is refreshing... too many rebels and incursions and pirates. Since most wars are really about money to begin with, it makes sense that the trend will continue...
Good luck with it, I hope it turns out well.
-
Interesting concept...has potential...this is one campaign that can go either way as it can either be a major success or a complete failure (although most campaigns can end up a complete failure :p). Best of luck to you.

I'm interested in HLP hosting, where can i obtain it?
-
No one is able to help me?
-
Look Here (http://www.3dap.com/hlp/hosted/)
-
thank you for your help,
I'm also looking for FREDers, interested?
-
I would be except that I`m writing my own campaign as well as being a FREDder on another one. As it is that is stretching my free time to far.
What you need to do is find a newbie who isn`t working on anything else cause most of the regulars are pretty busy too.
-
Ok, thank you anyways...
-
I've asked for HLP hosting, stay tuned for more news.
-
Good!
I have obtained authorization from Inferno staff to use some of their MODs...
If i obtain authorization for some others maybe a quick release can be planned, for september
Stay tuned for more news!
-
I can FRED, though I've only done missions for my own use... and I don't have good ideas. Also I haven't used FRED for a quite a long time, actually I haven't even played FS2 for a while, I need a new computer to start playing it again, even sounds are not working anymore and I don't want to format. :p
I'll likely start FREDding again after I get a new comp, but I think it's too late for this campaign.
-
Well, never say too late...
We are still making concept developing, and very basic FREDing has been done...
If you are interested in joining send me an e-mail at [email protected], and i will send you development report, wich include most campaign info.
-
Yeah, maybe, but it'll still take a while before I'm getting a new computer... probably a few months. That's most I can wait. :p
-
Release date is planned for september but it can go much further because of staff requirements...
Seems like all skilled people is already busy...
-

not correct, CODEDOG ND made the original, several members of the 158th then aided him in completing it but we did so not as staffers of the 158th but as members of the HLP community. We helped him but the model is still his. Credits are as follows:
CODEDOG ND- original model
mikhael- model tweaking
LtNarol- base mapping
StratComm- final mapping tweaks, turreting, and converting
Hope this clarifies
-
Thank you for the clarification.

Since you're going to want upgraded ships (you said so in the thingy), would you like the Aten Mk2? It has anticap beams... :)
-
well, maybe a version without beams would be really nice...
If you wanna be a MODeler for us i have some stuff to ask...
Check http://www.galacticcorporationalliance.cjb.net for the staff...

Aten Mk II
I'd like that. Could be useful in the future.:devilidea
-
Hey, no one voted for the 3rd option...
Very, very strange...
-
:wtf: Yeah, that is weird:wtf:

Why not, do you have other FS1 derived models?

Not really. The source code is important but if no one is making missions who cares what they do?
