How do I activate voice chat while playing over a network? Is there a special button I have to press the voice chat while in a game? If so, what is this button? :headz:

Read the manual. Seriously.

My copy didn't come with a manual. It was one of those duel-jewel copies that came with FreeSpace and Silent Threat. I just need to know the button you press on your keyboard during a muliplayer game that lets you send a voice message using a microphone. I have it set up, I just don't know what in-game button to press.:headz: :headz: :headz: :headz: :headz: :headz: :headz: :

ALRIGHT, ****ING KNOCK THAT OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First off, that was really rude of you to say that. Second, I think it is moronic that you find it nessecary to say ****. I just want to know which button you press to send voice messages in FreeSpace 1 in multiplayer.

Calm down UT but to your defense, Nickosticko, please don't spam with the smilies. That is extremely annoying.
Do you mean the message text? If so...
1=All
2=Friendly
3=Hostile
4=Target
If you mean actual "Voice Chat" thingy with ViaVoice (TM) then it should be either in the options/control menu in game or at the screen that pops up when your first double click on the icon on the desktop.
If you can't find it, try downloading other voice software.

Voice chat is possible using only FS. I would suggest testing different keys in testing game. I can't remember which key it is right off the back. Trying each key should get you there. I think the in-game music will cut if you pressed the correct key and the music will continue once you let off the key. Once you've found the right key, press and hold down the key until your message is done.
Edit: Oh yea, and in the options under multi you'll find some voice options. You might want to mess around with those first.

Try the one above the TAB key.

*twitches eye*
So-sorry 'bout that...
Anyways, try checking the key bindings in-game. There's almost never a set key.
