hey all, recently I decided to re-install FS2 (i just couldn't resist).
However, in the game the text looks sort of "scrambled", like its squished together or something. It's not easy to describe.
Anyway, has anyone heard of this problem and/or does anyone have a solution to it? I'm running 1024 x 768 res and it makes the text hard to read with this problem.
I have a geforce4 ti 4600, and re-installing drivers has had no effect.

its the same problem i have
you need to go into the driver settings and go into anti alising <- no clue how to spell it
-
Yup. Turn off the force Full Screen Anti-Aliasing (FSAA).
We really need to get that fixed in the source code if we can.

I've had that same problem with FreeSpace 1. I have a GeForce 4 4200. The text looks fine on my brothers Comp though, and he has a GeForce 2 GTS

Yeah, this is an anti-aliasing issue. You can try playing around with the AA settings in the control panel - on some systems it works better with it on, on others with it off - or as an alternative solution, go into Regedit, add a DWORD tag named "D3DTextureOrigin" in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Volition/Freespace2/ folder and set its value to 1. These methods give different results depending on the hardware configuration, but one of these two options should work.

alright, i'll mess arouund with AA and see what happens.
Thanks everyone for repsonding :) .
