How freaking lazy do you have to be to not even spend a few moments thinking of a response... to a comment on a SocialNet. :banghead:
-
certainly for conventional interaction it is lazy and possibly socially dangerous as I presume without going out of your way to find out you wont know what it responded.
on the other hand, to take a leaf from my experience the likes of deviant art having something like this would probably be beneficial because it would auto reply to all of the "thanks for the fav" comments on your profile comments and likewise thank people for faving/watching you/your art.
so basically depending on the application as to if this is a good thing or not. if we are going for a blanket good/bad, i would lean towards bad but as i say this would be something where there are beneficial applications.
-
But is something so insignificant really necessary? Do we really need the constant acknowledgement of someone else to a trivial action?
Taking your example , I'd like to extrapolate the following sequence: X favs an image. Y is thankful. Is it really necessary for the matter to be taken further than that?
I am sorry if this comes across rather bluntly, but I guess I am just not of "Soci-o-larity" movement.

very true but there is, certainly in the circles I walk, a loose, unwritten covenant that you thank people for faving your work or watching you out of appreciation for it and that in some cases you acknowledge that and while I certainly dont need anything like this for my account there are people on there who would find it beneficial

sometimes, corporate antics make me want to ejeculate a sword at relativistic velocities in their direction
but then i realize that'd probably kill me

Dammit, from the thread title I thought someone had announced a new Dune movie that would most likely suck but would no doubt generate many months of nerd debate.
-
I thought the same, actually.

Given the fate of the last project (http://io9.com/5784749/paramount-gives-up-on-the-dune-remake), I would not expect to see it again anytime soon.

Hollywood would never get Dune right anyway.
And I hate G+ when it shares links for me on youtube just because I watched stuff. Seriously, wtf?

man thats retarded. wheres my squirrel hunting rifle. il be in the woods.

Maybe before we rush to adopt social network auto-replies we should stop to consider the consequences of blithely giving this technology such a central position in our lives.
