Hello everyone.
Just wondering if it would be so terrible to make a campaign with all of the retail fs2 ships, yet add flavor by turning it into a war with modern day countries, say Spain, France, Russia, US. Etc. etc.
I am planning this campaign, but I really want to use the normal fs2 ships to kind of show what I could do with them.
I may consider changing this depending on what happens.
Would it be an interesting campaign though, bringing countries of reality into a game such as fs2?
I would like some thoughts.
Thanks

I could see something with factions inspired by the doctrines/dispositions of historical and current political factions/countries but I would think that one would have a hard time presenting something like "WW3 in space" using the exact country names as we have now and whatnot with any degree of seriousness.
Asset usage is not the issue here.

It wouldn't be ww3 in space... i just think thats kind of silly... but it would be interesting to see ships perhaps part of the "Spanish Navy" or something of that sort. The war wouldn't simply be "The Nazis" Vs. "Everybody else"
It would be a developed story and would have a certain length of development and backstory.

And i don't even know yet what countries would even be included, but this is just an idea for now, I am thinking about making a demo mission or two and see how it goes.

If humanity has advanced enough to seriously go to space, I'd like to believe it has advanced enough to get rid of the utterly retarded concept of nations. The contrary would be way too depressing to handle.

So basically Starlancer ;)

Because there's any reason to believe nation-states are going away even as we are going to space.

"retarded concept of nations". I'm striving really hard to not facepalm here.
Yes, I'd have been all down with the concept of european union being stretched to the entire planet, except that the last few years have really dented this concept in my mind. I kinda like this "retarded" concept more and more, if you ask me.

Since we aren't going to space anyway, and you're imagining what is basically an utopian future where humanity manages to get into space at all, you might as well go all the way over it.

Who says we aren't going to space? You?

I have decided not to do this kind of "Countries" thing...
I do not agree that humans will never get into space, but i do agree that they would never enter space with the same political units we have today. I am refining this heavily and i should be able to release a little bit of information on my campaign that I am planning to make.
Still early stage.. and i don't know if I will just use stock ships or try making my own. But I just wanted to get an idea out there and see what I could do with it.
Thanks

Reality.
You're probably unfamiliar with it.
