I'm not really sure why I decided to make this thread, but, lately, I've been wanting to find more tall spaceships. Tall or just vertical spaceships are pretty cool, and I'm disappointed that there aren't more of them. I mean, EVE Online has quite a few!
So uhh, yeah. Go ahead and post pictures of tall spaceships.
-
Homeworld has the main big bad vertical mothership.
EDIT: It does make me wonder why the borg never had rectangular ships, let alone pyramid shape.
-
Of course! And yeah, the lack of a Borg rectangle confused me. Anyway I'm finding pictures for this since I accidently hit "Post" before I was done, so uhh :nervous:

there is a rectangular recon ship in Star Trek Armada, but I am not sure how "canon" that would be.
Also
btw, if somebody wants the blender model files or uncompressend and higher resolution textures of the ships, you know who to ask
and more lego:

Well, here are some EVE Online tallships
-
Didn't nexus the Jupiter Incident have those massive Vardrag ships? and the
Great Dar- Locust mothership? And the Noah frigate (and cut corvette that's in the files)? The Noah bombers were also tall. As were the Ghost ships. I'll stop now :p
-
Yeah, the Vardrag ships were pretty cool in that regard. Although the Locust mothership isn't very vertical or tall, just... long.
-
For those who haven't played Nexus:

Six gerslters crammed right under every cooling drive so that you strain your primary artery function and you end up having to recycle secondary exaust through a bypass system...just so's you don't end up pumping it through the main atmofeed and asphyxiating the entire crew. Now *that's* junk!
-
Ah, how could I forget the Alliance's buildingships? And how could I forget the lovely AD Odigitria?!

Anyway, I'm not sure why when I said buildingships, I somehow managed to forget the Lindos of all things.
-
The Star Wars Hammerhead cruisers. The Hammerhead, Tharanta, and Scythe cruisers are all tall ships.
-
Geometry Attack!

*nuke lols at your monoaxis gravities*
i liked the sphere on prey, since every possible direction, as well as several impossible ones, was down. the concept of tallness kinda went out the window at that point.
-

-
I find it a shame the Sharlin appears to be the only tallship the Minbari have.
-
Are these ships tall...
...or just incredibly wide?!
-
Perhaps both? ;7
-
Dunno if there's artwork for this

Ha, I played that game
(It's a Grigori-class Cruiser from Fading Suns: Noble Armada, a miniature space combat game based on the Fading Suns RPG)

I'm surprised to see someone else than me knowing of this game (Or at the least the box artwork). I ran into it among other games for 1 euro in it's original huge box at a local annual market about five years ago and must say it was a really neat game for it's time, though I didn't get really far into it. Some unique ideas, there might be a let's play around if others are interested to see what that's like.
-
[saturnV]
Heh. Good one.

except by direction of travel its long not tall
-
Starship Titanic, eh? Ha ha, who'd name their ship that? Could be a good name for an alien race to name a ship though.
Imagine, FS1, before the Egyptian naming convention kicked in, the PVD Titanic jumps in... :)
-
... And KA-BOOM! Crashes with a nuke mountain :P
-
You could do such a thing in reverse. Have the Vasudans/other aliens react in horror to the name of a Terran vessel, due to an alien namesake having met with a terrible fate. The aliens don't want to be anywhere near the ship with that name.

Yeah the ships are back in print via Mongoose Publishing, who has adapted it to their Call to Arms series. Additional ships are available as well.

Up Goer 5: http://xkcd.com/1133/ :)
-
The most Kerbal description I've even seen. Gotta include this when somebody ask me to configure a Saturn V for KSP. :)
Slightly less tall, with a bit worse record, but with more liftoff thrust and a more interesting staging sequence.

I'd love to see XCKD describe this one...

There's a serious lack of Naglfar in this thread
-
There were some Eve pics (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=86201.msg1722106#msg1722106) a while back! Easily missed since they were linked rather than embedded.
-
Yeah, the pics were a bit big, so I decided not to embed them. Although I guess I could....
-
You forgot this: :D

-
SUCK, SUCK, SUCK!
-
She's gone from suck to blow!
-
Of course, how could I forget Megamaid? The best part of Spaceballs imo.
-
I suppose humanoid figures do count.
-
Yeah, Unicron certainly would count since he can...well, fly in robot mode.
