Title: GOG's FS2 compatiable with SCP?
Post by: kevin332 on December 14, 2013, 03:00:36 pm
Hi. I purchased FS2 on GOG and wanted to know can it be updated with mods/content from the Source Code Project? Thanks.

Yes.

To be clear: our mods are compatible with the SCP, and the SCP is compatible with the retail data files you get from GOG.  SCP refers to the updated game engine (fs2_open_3_6_17_etc.exe), while "mods" or "retail data files" refers to a bunch of files ending in .vp containing the actual game content (models, textures, missions).  The mods generally won't run on the GOG-provided .exe file.  Please see http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=78710.0 for more info.

very much so, to the point I believe GoG made changes to their distribution to improve compatibility with FSO
