Title: DVD R DL Capacity
Post by: est1895 on January 08, 2014, 09:23:28 pm
I know that they have a 8.5gb capacity, but if you are writing files to it it won't hold that much.  What is the max capacity for DVD DL discs?

As you can see I'm still learning how to use the computer.  Bear with me please.

It will, in fact, hold exactly 8.5 gigabytes (eight-and-a-half billion bytes). You are probably getting confused because your operating system is reporting sizes in gibibytes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gibibyte) instead (a gibibyte is 1,073,741,824 bytes, so 8,500,000,000 bytes is ~7.9 gibibytes).
