Can you name a software product comparable to Nero 7 Ultra Enhanced Edition?
-
Dear God, why? InfraRecorder -> Go.

Infrarecorder is really as good as it gets for an all in one free cd/dvd burning software for windows. You'll still be left with installing multiple applications for burning crap for free under windows. Whenever k3b will get ported to windows finally would be fine since porting qt4 was big about offering the chance to port linux qt programs to windows. Probably never will happen. I liked how k3b would copy a dvd movie without needing libdvdcss2 if you told it to force copy.

I've used CDBurnerXP for ages, though I have no idea if it's as fully-featured as the software mentioned.

It's been years since I last burned something to disc. Solid state media FTW.

Oh man, k3b would be awesome for windows. I think it really blows that it's exclusive only to linux. It can theoretically be ported to windows. Qt programs could be ported to windows through the licensing that qt4 had. Over the years i more or less found out the main dev doesn't care. K3b does just about everything that nero (and many things nero will never do) for free. I would love to replace infrarecorder with k3b when i load out a computer with light weight and free equivalent programs (sort of like why i install evince as opposed to adobe acrobat reader). Granted k3b is a deal more complex than infrarecorder, but infrarecorder is rather basic. Even i liked the advanced features of nero if k3b isn't an option.
Cdburnerxp seems like a decent program itself i must add. Although, turning to free software sure beat the time of downloading the trial demo of nero and cracking it. It's not about the guilt. Just downloading free alternatives like cdburnerxp and infrarecorder usually entails much smaller downloads without the cracking step and no worry of piracy litigation.

No this is for my brother who will soon get a blu ray burner.

Yes but that was a year ago. k3b huh?
Those are good but I need one for blu ray... especially 128gb disc. BDXL formats.

same. ive been using sd cards for everything. i have a bunch of 4 and 8 gig cards just for installing operating systems. bigger cards for moving files around. smaller cards for hardware hacks. i actually have sd cards containing disc images.

Yes guys I know about those storage devices, but my brother distinctly likes discs. Now he does like the portable hard drives, but he's waiting for portable ssd drives to come down in price. Now there's a good deal on Newegg.com http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820721108&nm_mc=EMC-IGNEFL012114&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL012114-_-EMC-012114-Index-_-SSD-_-20721108-L0H
Most of the people say that their old hard drive were faster than these babies. So please also give me your option on these ssd drives.

There's ImgBurn as well. I've used that and CDBurnerXP and InfraRecorder over the last few years.
