Title: The Illustrated Guide to Law
Post by: Scourge of Ages on January 22, 2014, 08:43:11 pm
In light of the recent thread, and at least one other recently (the guy sentenced to 400+ years), I'd like to this to everyone's attention:
http://lawcomic.net/

It's a webcomic. It's a guide to law. It's frequently funny and entertaining, and always actually very instructive, and written in language that the common person can understand, with examples that really help.

Relevant bits:
Punishment (http://lawcomic.net/guide/?p=60), or Why keep a guy locked up for well beyond his lifespan?
Self Defense (http://lawcomic.net/guide/?p=864), or When is it proper and legal to use lethal force to defend yourself/others?

I can heartily recommend this. Not only is this veyr interesting, the comment section is also very interesting, which is a rare thing.

Seconded; I've found this to be very interesting too, despite not being American. Thanks for linking it. :)

That's very well done, and the self-defense provisions at least are generally true for any other Common Law country as well (Canada, Britain, Australia, New Zealand, etc).  Although ignore the "make my day" component of home defense and "stand your ground" discussion as they generally don't exist in Common Law countries except the US.
