Title: Idea for fighter docking

Just thinking -  what exactly does the 'support' ship tag mean - anything other than it rearms other fighters?

My idea would be to to create a big-ship with the support tag.  when you call it in, you can dock with its' fighterbay (based on certain modelling constraints - it would have to be transport / cruiser size, and you'd have to fly towards it.

Then you could end the mission by jumping out the cruiser - if you could set it so both your ship and the bigship jump out simultaneously.

Just an idea - let me hear what you think.

That's something I wanted to try... to dock a ship to me, and have it warp out, would I go with it? lol... I'll try that soon

Thats kind of a neat idea, but there's some problems. FS2 only supports one support ship per race, so if you have this you can't have the normal support ship too. Docking with a large cap might be tricky, but it CAN be done, i've seen it. All you have to do is put the repair/rearm tag on whatever you want the repair ship to be, and take it off of its counterpart.

Anyway, I'm trying this thing now. Results at 10, or whenever I do it... lol

When you try it in Fred, it greys-out the sexp and when you manually enter it, and try to save, it says the ship is not allowed to have that order, and Fred2 crashes. lol

I remember in freespace 1 when we captured that Dragon class fighter, the Centaur#Charon had a "freighter" flag. I think some of how things dock to each other is in the naming of the dockpoints.
