I only read to page 10, but I'm glad they stopped derailing the thread. If Zacam wants to close this or just merge all of the Steam vs GOG posts into this thread, that'd be fine.

And so, to what at that end, you spuriously undertook to try and manage an issue preemptively even knowing that the origin of it all could easily have been split about anyway?

No.
A: there should be no "vs." involved, that's just inviting trouble.
B: It's already been exampled that very strong opinions on the matter leads to problems that are better avoided.
C: If people ACTUALLY want to have this discussion, than the actual involved parties can start it themselves, but frankly, it's still going to turn into a mess at some point.
