While it's true, it was rather due to women talking/sharing details regarding their emotional state and/or relationships and having someone to "talk to", while men tend to be more reserved regarding these things. Which as a male apparently suffering from depression I find kind of a sore point to glorify.

Counterpoint, beer owns because unlike Scotch (which also owns) you can drink it with your friends and buy them all rounds and you won't end up totally broke. Also it can be really tasty.
