Title: WX launcher produces black screen

Hi all,
I'm new to Free space 2 and after playing several years X3tc and Ap i  decided to install FS2. I meticulously followed instructions for OSX, but WXlauncher produces nothing but a black screen.
Pushing the enter button brings back the launcher with the message: " FS2 open exited with a status of 1".  I use a GOG download for FS2 on a IMac 24", 2.4GHz core 2 duo, 4Gb Ram, OSX version  10.9.2 Mavericks. After days of trial, reinstalling the game and reading as much posts as possible, I still get that black screen.
Does somebody know what is wrong? I try to attach the file structure of the game. Maybe they may be helpful.

Please post your fs2_open.log file.  Instructions on how to do this can be found in this post.

Hello General Battuta,
Thanks for your quick reply.
When running the game with the debug file, it seems not to generate a .log file, but an error message is displayed.See attached pics.
It says: "FS2 open now running...."  in the left down corner

As the error message says, it seems that you are lacking the data from the retail FS2 install. Please make sure that all the files from the retail install are in the same directory as the executables.

Hello The E,
I tried to reinstall Freespace 2 from GOG and observed an error during install. (see attachment).
To install Freespace 2,  I use Crossover first and transplant the files to my Mac applications map.
I also attach the crossover debug log. In the last lines you can see crossover was unable to execute sdbinst.exe

That's fine. Find the directory all the game files have been installed to, and copy them to the directory where you have set up fs2_open and the mediavps. In addition, move the contents of the "data2" and "data3" directories into that same directory. You should be good to go then.

The basic game runs ok now :). Time to add a few mods.

Playing the first training sessions revealed a little but annoying problem: In the com menu it was impossible to choose the highlighted choices (4)
I restarted he game several times and tried to acknowledge the suggested choice, nothing helped out.

Any suggestions ?
