New Cosmos owns bones. Did you see how he chased that wolf away? How he declared evolution as scientific fact, right on the nose? (On FOX even, lol) And there was some Fantastic Voyage **** too. And HALLS OF EXTINCTION. And disembodied Sagan God-voice.

Neil... I thought we'd be meeting face to face. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBLOvSb56Vc)

Too bad I can't see the episode, just the trailers. :-(

I wasn't really impressed by the season premiere (actually I gave up on it at the second commercial break, though I did re-watch on youtube later).  But I tried the second episode and am glad I did.  Much better writing, and perhaps the clearest explanation of evolution's mechanisms I've seen on television. :)

I hope that cosmology and early universe will be given as good of a treatment in a future episode.  The cosmic calendar from the premiere was cool, but the brief explanation of the Big Bang was awful.

One crucial thing to consider about this: This is not written for us, the people who are already onboard the whole "Science is AWESOME" train. So yeah, that first episode? It was simplistic as ****. But that's a good thing; If this series made the mistake of going all supernerdy accurate in every detail, it would fail in its primary purpose.

Yeah, first ep was kind of a sampler. Original Cosmos was the same way.

As the old xkcd strip said, it should have never been one to begin with. :p

im not sure if ceres is still considered an asteroid (not that asteroids were official or anything). everyone feels bad about pluto, but nobody ever gave a rats ass about ceres. its that neglected protoplanet that was abused by its bigger brother and was never able to grow up properly. it has to live in the solar system's junkyard because nobody ever wanted it. but nooooooo everyone feel sorry for that emo narcissistic ***** pluto.
