Here's the stupid petition (http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/sideshow/whitehouse-gov-petition-seeks-to-give-alaska-back-to-russia-165159170.html). It's all about americans wanting to give alaska back to russia.
It's never happening. The anti-ballistic missile base for one, oil for two.
-
Three: The Americans paid for it.
-
I hope it still has warranty...
-

Indeed. Four is that it's a damn nice strategic location for your military's air capabilities.
-
Soviet Canuckistan will near completion.
-
id rather have the canadians take over so i can get healthcare.
-
Nuke, just for kicks you should petition for that and see how many 'Americans' agree with you :P
And I bet the GOP will lose a significant amount of libertarians and votes.
-
It's not gonna happen. America would have to get their money back first, and Russia is too broke to afford that. :)
-
Ahahaha! There's two explanations for this one that I can think of:
First is that Russia is sowing confusion around the world.
Second option is that this is CIA propaganda against Russia.
Can't make my mind over it :D There's so many thoughts coming up to my mind about this, but if this is a Russian action, it's a good propaganda move. If it's CIA, not so good unless it's aimed towards unification of US against Russia, but I'll have my doubts about that too.
Is it just me or did the world politics just get a bit more interesting? :D At least nobody's talking about the economic troubles any more...

All wrong though, because the by far most likely explanation is trolling by someone with a few minutes to spare.

Yes, impending warfare in eastern Europe is so much more exciting!
For ****'s sake.

Timing is quite a coincidence for that, don't you say? Especially when US congressmen published "a secret memo" and are worried about the Baltic states possibly being overtaken by Russia. Or Russia being worried Sweden and Finland discussing about NATO.

I think you missed the subtext of my comment. The one that said war has traditionally been the way to solve internal economic problems.
-
This is the internet. Trolling is by far the most likely explanation, no matter what kinds of conspiracy you would like to believe in.
-
If there is a war, I hope they are going to fight with paint balls instead of bullets
-
No. Fighting must be done with pugil sticks to Amok Time. :p
Come on, you know it would be epic.
-
I should start a petition to give the Louisiana Purchase back to France.
-
While we're at it, how about giving Lvov and Vilna, along with surrounding lands, back to Poland?
We used to have them back when Russia had Crimea:

Yeah, let's do that. Provided we get Prussia back.
-
This is going to be one of those discussions where the Spanish end up in charge of Israel isn't it? :p

Why the Spanish in particular and not, say, France?
-
All is belong to Portuguese Empire, bow down to your luso masters.

It's probably one of the ones in which Italians end up in charge of Spain... :)
Yeah, let's do that. Provided we get Prussia back.
Fine, as long as we get to keep the Gdansk. The rest of the Prussia is bloody cold (coldest place in Poland, in fact) and on right besides Russia's border to boot. :) Mazury lakes used to be nice, but now they're full of obnoxious tourists and other sunday sailors. I can't say I'd miss this part much. I hate cold. :)
-
scotland backs these bids so long as we get berwick and panama back
-
The Spanish can stay the **** away from Western Sahara, though. For that matter, so can Morocco. If the Sahrawi want independence from Morocco, Morocco can shove a fish up their ass. :hopping:

And the restoration of the HRE :P.
-
Actually we're trying to restore it without the H... :D

America would be charging a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooot more money for it today than it bought alaska for in the past. As my figuring goes like this: Alaska was purchased in the past for the low low price of worthless arid frozen dry waste land; and today it would go for the high price of valuable natural resources and slew of other valuable ****.
Russia didn't know what they were selling, and america didn't know what they were buying. It was a nice gamble once many discoveries were made on that land.

It's still pretty surreal that Alaska ended up with the United States, anyway. That, and that the British gave the US the panhandle too. Canada got shafted twice as a result of that Russia-USA deal :p
-
Why the Spanish in particular and not, say, France?
Because nobody expects the Spanish...
-
...Conquistadores?
-
Alright I've had it with you. Bring out the Soft Chair!

Textbooks I read say Colombia was more important despite the Klondike. That definitely turned out well

i always wondered why the panhandle didnt belong to canada. why would they give up a large stretch of coastline like that. as someone who lives here i cant say you haven't missed much. impassible terrain, marshy ground, horrible weather ****ty people. im surprised you haven't built a wall yet.

The Carthaginians settled in Spain, they were the descendents of the Phonecians who were themselves the descendents of the Canaanites.
What? You thought I picked Spain at random? :p
