Hi. I was on Amazon.com and found these 2 links. I'm afraid to see if their claim is true. Please tell me what you think?
Here are the links: *removed for malware* - Mongoose

FreeSpace 2 should be purchased from GoodOldGames.com. Other sources are piracy.
Those sources in particular are clearly click-bait for unrelated software. They have nothing to do with FreeSpace. They're just using your search terms/browsing data to try to trick you into installing something else.

you couldn't find a link that screamed 'malware' louder without using shadyurl

Thanks guys! I also found Freespace 2 for sale at Gamestop. I was told that I could pay cash for it by just going to their local store and then download it.
Here is the link: http://www.gamestop.com/pc/games/freespace-2/91854

I edited those links out of your initial post, just in case someone accidentally clicks them and gets hit with some nasty malware.
As for the GameStop version, that one's legit; I'd honestly forgotten they had it available there. I don't know of anyone who's purchased it there, so I can't say if there are any issues with running it, but I'd imagine it's probably equivalent to GOG.com's version.

I don't think there is any reason to use Gamespot when you could use GoG.
-
I purchased from Gamestop because I had a giftcard. As I recall the .mve files are located and organized differently but it works just fine with the OGG cutscenes so there are no problems with the SCP.

I think someone has gone a bridge too far this time.

The reason I asked is becasue I don't have a credit card. So I can buy a Gamestop gift card as qwadtep did and just use cash.

a bridge too far
That was an enjoyable game too!
