Title: Question about the Universal truth Trancend failure screen.
Post by: Mammothtank on May 19, 2014, 05:24:03 am
Well as you can tell I probably lost that mission in the Nagari network at least once.

I saw a bunch of junk about how Sunder somehow gained access to Nagari? The Sync device was being tested and used to goto other universes? It confused the hell outta me and thats also all that I remember.

But what I want to know is how the hell does failing that mission give us this information?

Because it was a nice easter egg and a nod to other great campaigns that managed to inspire a lot of BP's modders.

There's more to it than that...

Nagari is, after all, used by several parties of significance as a surveillance system.

So Laportes mind is trapped out of her body in the Nagari Network and she can see into the real world and what others are doing?

Also I got the impression that report might not have been from GTVI. Also how the hell did they "insert" the Shadow Guardians into the Trancendants little charade if I remember they just seemed to be looking for a new mission with Sunder their new wingman buddy.

Man i have lots of questions that might not be answered but some that will be answered but I have to wait until the rest of BP comes out, I guess I'll have to wait for them then.

I was under the impression that while not destroying the immersion, due to the fact that the Nagari plot device is compatible with the insane* warped dimensions of Transcend, its main purpose was to give this other mod a nod of respect and establish Laporte's mindstate as being as insane as the Transcendent character and as lost (both "geographically", but also metaphysically) as Sunder (the pilot) was.

You seem to give the hint there's "more to this". Well, I believe you but I haven't played Transcend for a long long time and I can't really replay that boring mod again. Great story, I remember the whole experience well, but boy that was even more boring than 2001.

* Insane is the wrong word here. More like "possessed", or turned into a deamon creature, an horrendous zombie like creature that shatters the nagari network, shatters the entire structure of reality and the narrative goes bonkers with it.

Remember that the Transcendent also appears in-mission.

He does? When?

Yeah when? I don't remember him.

There was a "like-transcend" moment when we meet with Ken's anima for the first time. But even the ship is different (it's not the pegasus).

It's a fairly obscure failure case in UT2. He hangs out somewhere around the Yangtze.

Well yes that was the original discussion but then qwadtep said he *also* appeared "in-mission", and while it is technically correct that "in-mission" may include failure cases, I thought he was saying he appeared in a less-obscure setting, etc.

Qwadtep is correct - he isn't just namechecked in a failure debrief, you can encounter him in the mission.

Well the misconception was mine, I though we were already discussing the "in-mission" appearance in the first place (and thought qwadtep was talking about another appearance in a non failure state)

What? The Loki is the transcendant, not Ken?

No, the Loki is Ken.

I guess it's more obscure than I thought? Stay with the Yangtze at the end, he'll show up once the Tev fighters are destroyed.

Shiiet. What is he flying? What's his targeting data?
