Title: Launching through Steam using the wxlauncher
Post by: Lyonide on June 15, 2014, 07:19:59 am
Hi all,

As the Topic title says, is there a way to get the wxlauncher to run via the via menu?

Thanks ahead.

You need to change the name of the exe you want to use to to I believe freespace2.exe - rename it to the name of the exe Steam already looks for, anyway. You can either use wxlauncher, or your FSO Executable (3.7.2 RC3 I suspect), provided you've used wxLauncher at least once to generate the requisite ini file.

Since there was some sort of patch last night you now need to rename FS2.exe.

My issue is that the wxlauncher exe needs to be in it's respective folder, which means it cant be in the main Freespace 2 Directory.

The simplest way of all would be to add a shortcut to the Launcher as a non-Steam game, which will make it show up in your Library and enable the Steam overlay while in-game.  Using that method won't register as time spent playing FS2 in your profile, so if that's important to you it's the less ideal route.

That said, playing time is literally the only reason one shouldn't do this.
