Title: Brainstorming/Technobabble
Post by: an0n on July 16, 2002, 10:43:36 pm
I need some. Anything. Ranging from weaponry to medical equipment to uber-telescopes to hand weapons, just as long as it's sci-fi. It can be as complicated and implausible as you like or as childishly simple as....err.....a child (?). Brief descriptions of some tech would be nice but I know most of you are too lazy/spam-happy for that.

Commence.....nnnnnnnnnnNOW!

Well...er...how about an implosion gun?  If you've seen Outlaw Star, then you probably know what I'm talking about.  When the round is fired, it causes the struck object to implode inside a minature black hole that's generated.  ^^

I am seriously considering the fact that my postcount doesn't raise with each post I post. w3rd.

Hmm... Now it did raise, but I'm sure it's just because I was looking at it.

I could quote Polito's email to a more detailed explanation, but unfortunately I can't run Shock 2 withouth restarting the system, so I'll just tell you what it is.

It's a thing that resurrects you.

And you can have one! Just go to the nearest game store and buy System Shock 2 for 5 bucks! :D

You can have your money back if you're not completely satisfied with it!

Homing Black Hole

Category : Dimension Manipulation

The Homing Black Hole is easily the single most powerful weapon ever created. This missile calls into being a temporary and small black hole, which can destroy fleets of weak vessels and cripple some of the largest ships in existence.

Here's my technologies:

Quantum Particle Accelerator
The use of the Quantum Particle Accelerator will slow down time for the user by a period of up to fifty times. The device modifies the molecules in the user's body and excites them into a vibrating motion moving the molecules close to the speed of light. The closer to the speed of light, the slower time will seem to the user. The user will be able to make normal reactions while time passes much slower around them.

Graviton Displacement Column

Anti-gravity elevator.

Omnirover
Multipurpose vehicle with wheels and anti-grav plates

Sentinel
Non-organic intelligent lifeform used for defensive purposes

Plasma Weapons
Energy burst weapons with destructive reactions

Organic Disruption Weapons
Energy-based weapons that disrupt the neural-pathways of an organic lifeform with modes for unconsciousness to death

Electronics Disruption Weapons
Electromagnetic weapons that disrupt electronics

Particle Acceleration Weapons
A hyper-accelerated particle pulse weapon with destructive force

Focussed Plasma Beam Weapons
An accurate focussed beam weapon with a plasma stream

Security Vest
A vest that is worn to protect a person from energy-based weapons by absorbing as much energy as the capacitor can hold

Hazard Armour
Armour structure that is used to protect vessels from energy-based weapons by absorbing as much energy as the local capacitors can withstand

Hull Energiser
A system that polarises the hull with a magnetic current, which strengthens the hull to prevent against attack or other dangerous elements

Projected Energy Defence Screen (Shields, PED-Screen)
An energy shield that is projected around an object from internal generators protecting the object from unwarranted radiation, objects and energy, etc

Tachyon Radio Communications
A radio, which uses tachyon particles for instantaneous communications

Molecular Deflector
A device that is used on high-speed space-faring vessels to deflect atoms, molecules and other small undetectable objects in the vessel's path that could cause damage

Time Dilation Inhibitor
A small device that creates a partial energy bubble around a vessel to prevent the effects of time dilation on fast moving vessels

Quantum Computer
A computing system that uses particles at the atomic level to process and store data at an extremely high rate

Advanced Ion Drive with Deuterium Bombardment
An advanced ion-drive propulsion system is a high-powered drive system used to achieve high speeds, teamed up with Deuterium slug bombardments, this drive also has high acceleration

Low-Power Fusion Thrust Drive
A low-powered fusion propulsion system used for accurate low speed manoeuvres

Manoeuvring Thrusters
Small Chemical-based thrusters that help move a vessel

Retro Fusion Thrust Drive
A small, high-powered fusion propulsion system used to slow a vessel down from high speeds, which is also used for fast reverse-thrust

{unnamed} Engine

An engine that uses the magnified power that runs through an {unnamed} core

Surveyor Scouts
A group of six small unoccupied scouts with long-range sensor equipment that arrange themselves in a spherical formation around their parent vessel to increase its sensor range

Artificial-Gravity Deck Plating
These plates are positioned in the deck flooring of space-faring vessels and, when activated, generate a gravity field in the room creating artificial gravity for lifeforms to function more safely

{unnamed device}

A device that creates anti-matter from matter at an efficient rate

LOL @ Shrike :D

Umm, okay, now for a bit more seriousness?

Fusion Compression Cell

Basically a sphere lined with ultrastrong ceramic electromagnets.  This allows for rapid heat dissipation and no electrical arcing in the chamber.  When energized, the magnetic fields can compress charged gasses into a tiny spot, and due to the compression the temperature of the compressed gases shoots up exponentially.  Keep a constant feed of deuterium/tritium going, and you'll eventually get a semi-self sustaining fusion reaction.  The plasma can then be ducted through absorber conduits to collect the EM fluxing and heat for power generation.

The neumatic cookie dispenser with optional beverage fountain and holder. Fits into a free CD-ROM Slot of you're PC.

Trash vaporizer. No more need to take out the trash.

Doggie Collar with a GPS geomagnetic motion controlor that allows the dog to go alon into the streets to take itself out following a programed course. With optional noise reducer and agresiveness inhibitor.

Neural awareness activator/time clock. Place the small little chip onto you're temple when you sleep, and it will wake you up at the designated time, fully refreshed.

Playstation 3. Can play any game on the market. I don't know how, but it can.

The Cooker-fridge. Any food placed in a cookerbox that has been taged will instantly be cooked and heated to desired requirements specified on the tag once it has been take out of the fridge.

The brain-keyboard. No more typing.

The Body Office. Surgically planted devices that allow an executive to continue work while either in transit or at home. Includes Cell phone implanted into the ear that uses voice recognition for phone calls. It is connected to a retinal implant that displays a HUD into either eye to display latest stock quotes and cell phone data, aswell as connection to the internet. Brain implant allows full control over an office operating system where the user can mentally write all reports and send them via the phone to the closest printer or at home. Has optional guarage opener, car lock/open/starter, credit card data, radio receiver.

The palm reader. The device is a thin film that can be placed on the palm of the hand or surgically meshed with the plams skin. Will be able to read any books in a matter of minutes upon contact with any paper back book. The signals will be sent to the users brain where words are transfered in to images. Illegal uprgrade wil allow more "interactivity" while reading "adult" material.

Office Home Security Hazzard Interception Tiger. When you leave the house, it will activate and patrol the home for any intruders who it will immediatly decimate and place in nice little handy doggy bags to be placed in the trash vaporizer when arriving home or to the office.

The tachyon oven. You're food will be cooked before you even place it in the oven. so no more oven cleaning. Warning: May produce unwanted quantities of food...

Thats all I could come up with for now.   :D
