Title: Do you like potato salad?
Post by: CT27 on July 08, 2014, 03:28:15 am
A guy asked for $10 to make potato salad...and has got over $30K now.

How the hell did he manage that?!

I've bookmarked that, I'm keeping an eye on it. I wonder if he'll add any more stretch goals?

He's going to have a lot of trouble reading out all the names when making the potato salad and sending out pieces of it and photos to all those people! There's no way he can fulfill his backer promises! :D

Very amusing, thanks for posting. I imagine many other kickstarters are looking on with envy... :)

of the millions of things you can do with potatoes, making a salad with them is the worst abomination there is.

Potato salad can be very delicious when its done correctly.

I know two different variants

First:
Code: [Select]
cook the waxy potatoes and peel them
let let them cool down a little
slice them into a bowl

hash the peeled onions
wash the parsley and also hash it (without stapes)
put all to the potatoes

heat the bullion and douse the potatoes with it
they now should be a bit wet.

cover the bowl with the ingredients and let it pervade for at least one hour

put oil and viegar on the potatoes and carefully mix it all
flavour it with salt and pepper

serve

and just pulpify the potatoes if you really like it that way

Second:
Code: [Select]
You need also waxy potatoes

cook and peel them
use vinegar and salt to add some seasoning.

let them cool
and slice them into ab owl

put pepper and if needed salt to it
mix it a little.

add mayonnaise and yogurt
also a bit mustard and horseradish

optional add diced: gherkin(pickled and/or not pickled), radish(garden), chive, apple, roasted beacon

mix carefully and serve

I mean seriously, potato salad with smashed potatoes is really something where you need to get used to.

When this is over, he might have an army of people making enough potato salad to feed his whole community!

Now I'm curious what he's going to do with ALL THAT MONEY. It's not like he has to mail out big salads across the world from what I can see. Here's hoping he'll put it to some good use like actual charity by making salads for his whole community, that sort of thing.

I'll just add this.

If you add onion to potato salad you will be first up against the wall come the revolution.

That is all.

Its one onion per kg potatoes at maximum.

Have you ever heard of sausage salad?
I know somebody making it with sausage, onions and cheese at a ratio of 1:1:1
that's close to inedible.

But if wanted i also have a good recipe for sausage salad.

At the fist variant you may also add garden raddish and at the second you ma dice a egg into it additionally.

You're all crazy.  Sweet potato mash with spring onion lightly fried into briquettes and made into a fortress for sausages with a gravy moat.

Royal engineer level of manly cooking.

Wow, this really got some momentum from somewhere, it's over $60K now!

I wonder if it will hit 6 figures, it's on course to do so.

The story made it into my local newspaper.

That is ridiculous.
I'm really curious to see how many of the 6, 290 (as of 12 days to go) backer will be mad when they realise they just donated ~$61 000 to some random guy to make a potato salad. Also interested how this guy will live up to his rewards.
EDIT: I also found this quite hilarious, bursting into laughter when I saw the figure!
P.P.S: I like Potato Salad too

I would have thought they'd all know what they're doing.

And yes, he's not going to be able to weasel out of living up to the billing I don't think with all the attention that's been put on this Kickstarter. It will be interesting indeed. Somehow he has to read off thousands of names and send out thousands of bites of potato salad.

I would have thought they'd all know what they're doing.

Im not sure about that, some people are pretty stupid  :p
Also I noticed on other forums where legitimate kickstarters have occurred, people seem to believe that rewards are not rewards but that they have physically bought there chosen rewards. (If that makes sense)
Then pitchforks come out.
