I again present another of my ships, this one a corvette. Discussions are welcomed, as would be the assistance of some texturing guru. Pics are here:

[admins: delete this post if the other one gets fixed.]

It needs gas container textures on the "tube-like" thingies if you want to make it a gas miner (Wich I think it should be).
And thos sharp things on top : :wtf: Either make 'm round (or square) to make it turrest. Or just lose 'm. Cause they don't go with this kind of model.
*note : This is MY opinion.

Okay. In case you didn`t see it before the other thread self destructed.
Go for the longer model. The short one is a little too stubby for my liking. Either way the front could do with a little more detail.
Apart from that it seems to fit in quite nicely with the other two ships you`ve done.
Okay. I've talked about your ship (twice!). Go click on my juggernaut topic and return the favour :)

Looks good but its looks to big to be a corvette perhaps a frigate, light destroyer...
Not speaking in FS class standard...
-
No you had it right, frigate is the proper designation in FS, for a ship of the size you were describing (Iceni-sized).
As for the ship, I also don't think the spikes fit very well with the style. Also some more head detail would be helpful. Otherwise it looks quite nifty :yes2::nod::yes:
-
OK, more forward detail, longer model, lose the spikes. Got it. I'll see what these changes do, and I'll post another screen soon.

Here's the second go:

There is a light (can't isolate it yet) generating a lot of wash from the back of the ship, so any backwards-facing polygons should be several shades darker than they appear.
-
WHOA! Looking good! Much better!!
-
It is actually ready for conversion now. Even has a full debris field. I'll triangulate it and see what I can do about getting a conversion whipped up.
[EDIT]: ok, the ship is POFed and tabled. Look here (http://www.geocities.com/cek_83/new_corvette_ingame.html) . It's not going to be called the Eris, that is a leftover in my default test mission.
Now for pathing...

Exceptional work, StratCom. Very nice! :)
I know you've got a lot of work perfecting these models, but is there any way you could whip up a new Vasudan corvette and a new Vasudan destroyer?
Some new Vasudan fighters would be nice too... :D
Sorry, it just seems to me that most people want to make Terran ships and wind up neglecting making new Shivan and Vasudan designs.
Yeah, I've seen the stuff at the Inferno website, but none of their new Vasudan designs really knocked my socks off, if you know what I mean. (Cripes, one of their vasudan corvettes on their tech database looked like a sandy brown crowbar! :wtf: )
EDIT: I also can't wait to see you perfect the GTDn Archangel (I think it still needs a debris field, and last I heard, I think there were still problems with the turrets). I think I'm going to use that baby in my campaign and have already begun modifying the script for it. (The GTVA may have a big cannon that can blast a juggernaut in 2 seconds, but the Shivans have lots of juggernauts!)

*drools*
*drools even more*
*drools over the entire HLP board*
*sees everyone swimming in his drool*
:D
I need that ship! Its cool!

Excellent work! Are you going to release it? I would really like to use that in my campaign that I am working on.
As a side note, what are the dimensions of that beauty?

I do plan to release it, but I'm not sure when. I need to do some pathing and it will be ready. As for the Archangel, it will be fixed soon, but I have to find a converter that will take it. PCS is giving me problems to no end, and I never got COB2FS2 to work at all. As soon as I get a better converter, I will release a fixed Archangel, this ship, and a final version of Codedog's Raynor.
And this new ship is, according to modview, 370x402x1083 meters. A bit bigger than a Deimos, but still a corvette.
-
Well actually I'd call it a frigate, since the Iceni was a frigate and this is bigger than the Iceni.
and I quote:
"... Bosch's command frigate, the NTF Iceni"
but call it what you want :)
-
meh, thats no Eris :D
For all of you who are looking at me funny, the Eris...well...you'll see.

Yeah, but the Iceni model is called corvette2r-01.pof, and is actually refered to as a corvette in more than one mission. This argument could go on indefinately, but I think that the difference between a corvette and a frigate is not size, but function. The Hipocrates is a medical frigate, the Iceni is a command frigate, but they range in size from 550 meters to close to a thousand. That spans corvette length. Corvettes are all around warships, frigates have special purposes. That's teh difference.
