INT'L COMPANY: WESTERN ECONOMY DEPENDS ON ISRAELI TECHNOLOGY, Arutz 7, 21 July 2002
Israel's strong hi-tech industry received national recognition this week, reports the Jewish Agency's Global Agenda. Leading global advisory firm Giga Information Group, in a position paper published on Wall Street this past week, wrote, "Without Israeli technology, the west will not develop. Many organizations throughout the world, including the American national infrastructure, will not survive for long without constant support from the revolutionary technology coming from Israel."
In response to inquiries from various large organizations regarding the advisability of continuing to acquire Israeli products, the heads of Giga note: "Israeli technology has the greatest influence on the modern world, since it is leading both conceptually and technologically. Israeli engineers find elegant and creative solutions to deal with the biggest problems and threats. Israeli innovativeness sets a very high standard that challenges other technologies. Therefore products from countries such as Sweden, Germany, England, Asia, and even North America become much better thanks to the standards set by Israel."
Just a few of the examples of this in the software world that you all might be familiar with: ICQ, IMesh, and Atomica (formerly known as GuruNet). :D

ICQ : :doubt: Don't use it...
Imesh : :wtf:
Atomica (Gurunet) : :wtf:

Sounds like it's a bit exagerated in a case of national ego-stroking.
Don't worry, every nation does it.

ICQ is SATAN! SAAATAAAN!

We invented Guinness! Whayee!! :D

ICQ locked up my comp for 2 minutes each time i started it up.
Keep on truckin' Israel :)
-
I hate ICQ, its evil and crashes my comp every couple of days. Other than that
-
I must have seen at least ten articles like this in the last few months except that they pertain to India and its programmer workforce. :D (my dad sends me these things :p)
-
But ICQ is a big, clunky, and unwieldy memory hog:D:p
-
Considering all of the problems you guys are having why not switch to ICQ lite? It doesn't allow file transfers and there are no bells and whistles but if you just want to speak to somebody on ICQ it will do the job.
http://lite.icq.com/
That or use Odigo which kicks ass :)
-
Pfff. Yahoo Messenger 0wnz ICQ.
-
I don't have ICQ at all. When I did, my comp got hacked, because it's up as long as your connection is, basically a permanent backdoor, adn I've got a DSL line that's always up. It's SATAN! SAAATAAAN!!!
-
Use Trillian. :p

Have the latest version you did not, hmmm?
If latest version you did have, upgrade your system you must. ;)
-
I'd use Trillian, but it doesn't convert Miranda ICQ lists over.
-
Well, in ICQ's defense, I'll say this: it started the whole IM craze. When AOL saw the oppourtunity, they bought out Mirabilis and started getting their grubby hands on ICQ. IIRC the last Mirabilis ICQ version was ICQ 99 Alpha... after that it became bloatwre in AOL's hands. :doubt:
-
That's why I went from 99b to Miranda.
-
well, see, back then ICQ was actually good.
-
icq still sucks
Hi carl :)

All this really goes to prove is that the world is more industrially/economically integrated now than ever before. I have no doubt that America depends on Israel for some of its technological expertise whilst Israel depends on America's military expertise in equipment, and both countries depend on China to produce their clothing and shoes. :p

Don't forget Taiwan/Hong Kong for all the portable radios, remote-controlled cars, etc. :D
Oh, yeah - Israel is also one of the largest diamond importers or exporters - I forget which - in the world. IIRC, South Africa sends many of their diamonds up here to be cut or something. :p
-
also, Isreal is the largest exporter of jews in the world.
-
Britian invents loads of funky stuff plus some other nice things we've done for people :)

*thinks hard about that*
You may be right, although we're also probably the largest importer of Jews, too.
PS. I-S-R-A-E-L - not the same as the word "real". :D

That's the most absurdly amusing thing I've heard all day. But I also agree with sandwich that they import the most. But don't let's talk about people as commodities anymore...it sounds ominous, and scares me. :p
-
I guess that every country has something. ;) (even something like Pakistan - largest exporter of terrorists :D)

Ah, well. Guess I'll settle to having the best chicks. :D
-
Styxx n chicks?
-
If the next 5 years follow this foreign-policy trend, we're soon to be the largest importer of nukes in the world! Woohoo!
-
awww what about beer!?!?!?!:doubt: :sigh: :(

Hehe. :D
But indeed, I was joking about not being able to think of anything. As my brother already pointed, the first practical airplane was built by a Brazilian, for one instance...

Hmm? What was that? Sorry, I wasn't paying attention anymore, since it took so long for you to respond - try ICQ'ing me or something. :D
