Title: How to play the original game first?

I got the FSOpen installer
http://www.fsoinstaller.com/

pointed it to my GOG Freespace 2 installer (because that's what it asked me for), did a complete installation, where the two Radar icon packages failed. Now I run fs2_open_3_7_2_RC4.exe to get to the game, set the options mentioned in this guide:

But how do I go about playing the original game first?

By Original Game do you mean Freespace 1? If so, select "FSPort" as the active mod in your launcher.

If you mean Freespace 2, activate "no mod" in your launcher for the "original" experience.  Select just the "MediaVPs 2014" to play the original game with enhanced graphics.

Thanks, I meant the first game, I selected it in the Mods as advised.

IMO the installer should have created a shortcut to the launcher. Because I ran the game and pixel hunted my way around the interface trying to change the resolution.

Holy ****, I have to jump through hoops each time I want to post??

its only for the first few posts iirc.  we had a major issue end of last year / beginning of this year with spam bots breaking the registration CAPTCHA so we have the additional verification in place to thwart the ones that get past which seems to be largely successful, but yer its frustrating to new members.

The limit goes away once you post on any of the boards which add to your post count. Apparently this isn't one of them for some reason.

EDIT : And I've fixed that.
