Title: Kuriudo conversion...how??
Post by: Deora11 on November 02, 2014, 08:56:41 pm
I just wanted to ask how the BP team went about converting the Kuriudo from the Xtra ship mod. I might be wrong in saying you got it from there, but if you did, which programs did you use to drop it into freespace? Just curious.

Are you referring to this (http://s1086.photobucket.com/user/Medes86/media/X-Tra%20Mod/Kuriudo.jpg.html)?

According to the wiki page on the Morena MacDuff (http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Morena_MacDuff) the model is credited to Cadius, so it sounds like you've correctly identified the original source.

That's definitely it. I remember it from playing X3 Terran Conflict a couple years back. Just wanted to know how to convert it.

I cant speak for exactly how but the trick is to get it into one of the mainstream model editors.

for example http://roguey.co.uk/x3/edit/killertide/ship_tutorial2.php

The first step is to use Dbox to import a ship into 3DS or Gmax

3DS well known around here and I presume there are converters to other major file types are also available.  then just import to your 3D editor of choice, trim out what isnt needed rig the model to how FSO needs it, export to DAE, import to PCS2 (The community program for importing to the FS2/FSO native format), finish up the needed actions and save to pof.

Yep, headdie outlined it pretty well. I used the dbox2 plugin for max to convert the model.
