I was giving help about creating a mainhall mask in thread 'Saving INDEX file for mainhall mask. PCX'. It had helpful tips that would have been handy to keep around. I guess it's not a big deal, but I'm rather surprised that the whole thread is missing... There was nothing in there that should have warranted deletion.

Users apparently can still delete topics that they start, which is what happened. I've restored the content so that others can find it of use.

Sorry, didn't know you wanted it kept.
I removed it since the problem was resolved, and it tends to get a bit cluttered in that section of the forum.

In general, we prefer threads to not be deleted unless something really bad happens (like, the thread starter being a spambot or something). Avoiding clutter is less important than having threads that can be searched for and referenced.

There tends to be some very long memories here especially for threads people have invested time and energy in and its very frustrating when the tread cant be found if someone thinks its relevent to another discussion or found information they want to look over again.
You didnt do anything expressly wrong but it is a community preference that the record be maintained unless like The E says the tread was spam or designed to cause grievous offence.

Ah thanks. Didn't realize users could delete threads, even their own!

We should probably disable that option, if we can. I know some forum software I've seen lets you delete your own thread so long as no one has replied to it, which seems reasonable.
